Have you ever swallowed harmful substances such as bleach, kerosene or you have been around someone that consumed that mistakenly and didn't know how to help out.

Kindly read this!!

This is a common problem among young children, and it arises from these substances being kept in an un-labelled container (e.g. Soft drink bottles, bottle water plastic) and within reach of children.

It is believed mostly among Nigerians that administering Palm oil during such cases is AN ANTIDOTE to all and any form of accidental poisonings , it is believed to neutralize the poison or at least provokes vomiting so the victim can get the substance out of their system.

This is extremely dangerous as an antidote in children as the victim might aspirate the oil which would result to respiratory distress, and the victim not breathing well (which is the danger inherent in giving palm oil).

DO NOT GIVE THE VICTIM PALM OIL TO DRINK.

The first step to take is to contact The Ambulance Company for swift emergency medical care, while doing that, provide them with basic information such as the substance taken, quantity and time of ingestion, age, and general health status of affected individual

Follow the following steps below after calling for medical assistance,

-Carefully remove the individual from the source of the poisoning, and move them to a region with fresh air immediately.

-Remove contaminated clothing and thoroughly wash the skin with soap and water.

-Ensure breathing and the presence of pulse

-Place the individual in a comfortable seated position in a ventilated space; avoid making them lie down

-If the individual is unconscious, make them lie on their side, to prevent aspiration of vomit into their lungs

-If exposure of the eye has occurred, then wash thoroughly with water

DO NOT induce vomiting in the victim.

There is a high risk of vomit getting into the respiratory tract that may result in severe complications and lung damage

Wait for the arrival of the medical personnel for more professional care.

How to prevent further re-occurrence of such incident;

-Keeping any poisonous/hazardous chemicals and other materials out of children’s reach

-Keep all poisons correctly labeled and in suitable storage locations

-Using appropriate protective wear when working with such chemicals (such as hand gloves)

Being aware of basic first aid steps in case of an emergency, such as this is really important.

I am of the opinion you didn't write this information with Nigerians at heart, "call ambulance service" ke,in this 9ja.
Ok let's say ambulance service exist, then you have to live in an estate hosting the medical facility or else the victim will die before you know it.
I agree with all the other points you have raised.
