Atiwaye: The keyword here is UNITY. Tightly knit that there won't be room for a Judas. I'm sure the North will get to a breaking point if this happens. The Igbo elites are scared of what they 'think' they will lose if they speak out in favour of decentralization. They sit where and when they're told and how to sit. 1 Like 1 Share |

Professor of History, University of Texas, Austin, Toyin Falola or Professor of Political Science? Public Policy Public Administration Business Administration Economics Criminal Justice "Understanding law is a huge component of becoming a successful politician. Many prominent politicians started their careers as lawyers, and since politics is essentially all about creating and interpreting laws, every politician will need to learn about law at one point or another." SmartPolician: Well restructuring is not a bad idea but expecting the government to just wake up one morning to do that will never happen. Those calling for restructuring failed to call out their state governors when FG decide local government autonomy and the governors kicked against it, same people kept quiet when JESUN went on strike because they want financial autonomy from the state government. These are where restructuring should start from till it get to the upper level where the FG won't have a choice. What about state police, they have all kept quiet about it, they want FG to wake up one day and hand over everything or call for another confab where millions will be spent with nothing to show fort. |

OkpaNsukkaisBae: This is what every right thinking Nigerian should ask, where is the restructuring they promised us? They lied to us and they will still try to do it again in 2023 or try to convince us that the people asking for restructuring are trying to break the country which is a blatant lie. |
Re: Yoruba Scholars, Monarchs Caution Igboho, Demand Decentralised Govt by IMASTEX: 11:08am On Jun 22, 2021 |
Monogamy:Agreed, but the north won't allow that, if the south don't demand for secession. The current system favours the north more, thus they would do anything to keep it so. But when the south confront them with secession, the north would be left with the option of settling for true federalism rather than losing it all. Note that different secession movement currently will die naturally once there is true federalism. |

When will they get decentralized government? Never under the present political structure of Nigeria. Elders feeding fat from the present political process of Nigeria must stop to determine for the younger generations. Youths determine the fate of elders in a saner country. |

Guestlander: You can research more on journalism gimmicks. You will understand the packaging. If the headline read Igbo Scholars, monarchs caution........ demands devolution of power or restructuring, who do you think the paper will use as person being cautioned? Nnamdi KANU of course, being at the forefront of Biafra/Ipob agitation, just to attract buyers, readers & attentions. All is about marketing strategy in journalism. Though, I respect your opinion but I think that's the purpose of the headline to achieved. |
Re: Yoruba Scholars, Monarchs Caution Igboho, Demand Decentralised Govt by traihit: 11:14am On Jun 22, 2021 |
discusant: The only issue I have with your submission is because of Prof. Fálọlá. I don't think Nigeria has any other historian still living in the class of that man. And FYI, he's not eating under Nigerian government. He's a director at University of Texas, Austin. Some of these guys actually know what they're talking about. |

Re: Yoruba Scholars, Monarchs Caution Igboho, Demand Decentralised Govt by Guestlander: 11:19am On Jun 22, 2021 |
adenigga: Maybe Nigerian journalism. No responsible newspaper will drop names like that. The most they will do is say agitators or something to that effect. They will never mention anyone's names just because they think you were referring to someone. |

adenigga: Useless men with no foresight. The Yorubaland extends up till Atapame Togo, with yoruba descendants worldwide estimated to number up to 100 million, there is no reason why a Yoruba state should not exist. If Jews could struggle to have their own country and even evict Palestinians.. Why can't yorubaland exist as a sovereign state for all yorubas? We have our system of government, we have our institutions, we have our culture, we have our natural allies. No reason the Yoruba should continue to be held down by Nigeria and separated into 3 countries The time for all of Africa to redraw the sstupid colonial borders created by Europeans is now.. This century it must be done and it will start with the Yoruba and Igbo - Africa's greatest |
