Festus Okoye: Why APGA Won’t Participate In Anambra Governorship Election by Nnadigoodluck(m): 2:34pm On Jun 23, 2021
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday explained that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) may not be allowed to participate in the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State due to the party’s non-compliance to Section 85 of the Electoral Act.

The commission has also urged any political party that is not satisfied with its position to go to court.

INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Publicity and Voters’ Education, Mr. Festus Okoye told THISDAY that APGA had earlier informed the commission of its election to hold ad-hoc delegate congress on June 23, only to later write the commission to declare that the delegates’ election had been conducted.

According to Okoye, “On the 16th of June 2021 the party forwarded to the commission the list of delegates for its congress for the purpose of nominating its candidate for the said election.

“On the 18th June 2021, the Secretary to the Commission responded to the said letter and notified the party that it did not notify the commission of the date of the congress where the ad-hoc delegates were elected as required by Section 85 of the Electoral Act”

Okoye further explained, “ By Section 85 of the Electoral Act 2010(as amended), every registered political party is legally obligated to give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) 21 days’ statutory notice of its intention to organise any convention, congress, conference or meeting for the purpose of nominating candidates for any of the elective offices specified in the Electoral Act.

“In the statutory notice given to the Commission, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) proposed June 23, 2021 for the conduct of its State Congress for the purposes of nominating its candidate for the Anambra State Governorship Election holding on the 6th of November 2021”,
Okoye explained.

The INEC national commissioner said, “Based on its satisfaction of the 21-day statutory requirement for the holding of its congress, the Commission has concluded arrangements to monitor the said congress and will monitor the congress-taking place on the June 23, 2021.”

Okoye said that prior to the letter of the June 18, 2021, the Commission on the June 3, 2021 drew the attention of all the political parties of the imperative of complying with all constitutional and legal requirements for the conduct of party primaries as the commission is obligated to keep records of the activities of all registered political parties.

He stated that “political parties must remain within the confines of the law and legality in the conduct of their primaries and avoid issues and challenges that may complicate the due conduct of elections.

“However, aspirants, candidates and parties that are aggrieved by the actions, decisions or activities of the Commission, or who complain that any of the provisions of the Electoral Act or any Act of the National Assembly regulating the conduct of primaries of political parties and the provisions of the guidelines of a political party for the conduct of party primaries has not been complied with can approach the courts for redress.

“Political parties must conduct due diligence on the list and personal particulars of their candidates and ensure that party members remain the sole determinants of those that are nominated. Violating the law and the guidelines for the conduct of party primaries will only set the stage for acrimonious primaries and avoidable judicial intervention,” he said.

In Nigeria, when you hear that the law was remembered on a particular issue, understand that a mid-bribe agreement has gone wrong. Or possibly, another partisan scramble.

That's to show you that you should never believe the captions of any Nigerian news the way bloggers or newspapers put it. There's always more to it. It is always influenced.

After all, what's the need of all the multi-parties we parade at the national level when the peace of the country is shifted and everything dilapidated? Would it increase Mama Chioma's kpomo in my stew? Or Iyawo Tutu's eba? Man's government has failed. Don't ever put hope on human government. Su ne mafi munin abin da ya same mu.

Anyị kwesịrị ịmụtakwu ịnabata ibe anyị, not otherwise. By the way, Adaeze, Ebee ka nri m dị? Will I wait till eternity or do you want the water on my hands to dry off?

By the way, I am available for hire, assignments writing.

Anambra People should better vote for Dr Godwin Maduka, whi has a track record of doing more for his people from his own purse than another career politician.
If he is the one the people want.
If he is the one that will better the lives of the indigenes of Anambra.

Between Maduka or Andy Uba,
Anyone that will bring the progress of Anambra State is who we want.

Hmmmmmm

They have already shot themselves on the leg.

We already see that coming...

Soludo is a paperweight to even think he can win through apga sentiments when the masses are already angry with the party and the disqualified candidates now working against the party

Plus other factions.

As it stands Oye faction conducting primary today is illegal...Court verdict.

Obiano has killed apga. Ojukwu will not forgive him. At least Peter Obi did not kill it he left quietly with the party intact,. Ojukwu's was to make the party a se affair where we can speak with one voice as brothers. But no okorocha had a different idea, all thanks to his long throat for power. They have finished using him he has stopped singing "my people my people" by now enugu and abia would have been apga states. Maka na " izu ka mma na umu nneji". Now APC wants to use this chance to enter government house awka. For all of you who think it's not possible recall how imo state went, by the way they did a test run and made tony nwoye who came last at the previous election in 2013 while he was in pdp , he suddenly came second in the last election (2017) shifting the second choice of anambra PDP to come last. Thats when the plans were completed. Now if they can kick apga out of the way. With the last elections where APC came second tell me what you will say if apga is out and APC comes next, since it came second last time? It's not enough to say APC has no foot in anambra, same thing happened in imo. Ebonyi is gone already. Just last week news flew in that obiano is backing the APC candidate, same last week they told us 2nd Niger bridge will be commissioned in Feb 2022. What remains after all parties have done primaries is that contractors will be mobilized to site again and they will send ngige to speak all the Grammer available in Michael West dictionary. And out of no where APC will become "NKE ANYI". Dot-nation

Even before now Anambra people have taken a consensus to reject APGA having squandered the chances given to them on a platter. PDP have come to rescue the state from ruins of APGA
