Hndrrxxx:All these companies would have actually come to Nigeria but with the way things are, Ghana is the next best option. Twitter CEO didn't come to Nigeria last year only for him to set up the headquarters in Ghana, he actually planned on siting it in Nigeria but with the kind of govt we have, he couldn't so ghana was the next alternative. 4 Likes 1 Share |

When the table turns and Nigeria becomes Africa biggest and most successful country, it’s these same people that’ll benefit from it, these same negative energy humans that charge their energy through negative news, these same people that’ll post on the timeline that life is not a competition but are quick to compare their country, these same people that contribute zero to the development of their country, Ghana government cannot be all that good, there are definitely corrupt politicians in Ghana, but you don’t see their youths protesting and washing their dirty underwear in public... Our social defamation is the first enemy, WATCHOUT A day will come when I’ll deactivate my 7 years old nairaland account and find another means of getting news feed, because nairaland as a platform is bad for my health, good vibe before good diet. 5 Likes |

Tinubuadvocate: Tinubuadvocate, Buhari and his family too reject Nigeria. His children schooled in the UK. They leave you and your children to wallow in the decay of Nigeria universities. The president himself goes to UK for medical tourism. He leaves you and your entire generation to use the decayed Nigeria hospitals. If that doesn't touch your brain that you are acting stupid, then nothing can very help you. You will live and die a stupid person. 2 Likes |

Reno omo komo as a thief thief politician you are one of those involved in the prevention such vehicle manufacturing in the country. Recall when Pegeout cars were being factured in Nigeria was it not Baba Saraki during Shagari era that says I don't want Peugeot cars but I want Shagari type of 280 Mercedes Benz and not Nigeria Pegeout type of cars but today it is Tokunboh car system. In Nigeria you get every thing imported.from fly covered meat to Television B B C radio news. 1 Like |

> Nigerians remind me of guys/ladies who fall hardest for anyone who rejects them… Honda, Nissan, Ford, Kia, Hyundai, Peugeot, Leyland, Geely, and a bunch of other cars are assembled in Nigeria… We’ve not adequately patronized those ones, but instead we are now in love with Toyota because they chose Ghana. SMH Meanwhile, is Pastor Reno aware that a condition for this plant is that Ghana must RESTRICT importation of used cars? Try imposing the same conditions in Nigeria, and watch the Nigerian middle-class (and the usual importers) go APESHIT! > 3 Likes |

MrFinbarr: By arbitrarily chopping off three zeros from it… Anyway, a “strong” currency does not equate to economic strength… Eg, Kuwait’s dinar is more 3x the USD, while Japan’s Yen is about 110 to 1US$. Nonetheless, you’re correct about Ghana’s other strengths… Relatively peace and political stability, and a president who understands the MODERN world. > |

RENO OMOKRI AND MUMU NIGERIANS ARE SEEING TOYOTA BUILDING A PLANT IN THEIR COUNTRY AS A SIGN OF GOOD. CHINA DOES NOT DO THAT. INSTEAD CHINA DISCOURAGES FOREIGN COMPETITION AND PROMOTES LOCAL MANUFACTURING, LIKE BUHARI SUPPORTS INNOSON. THAT IS THE WAY TO TRUE INDUSTRIALISATION. WHEN TOYOTA MANUFACTURE IN GHANA ON THE CHEAP, AND TAKE THEIR PROFITS HOME, WHO BENEFITS? NOT GHANA. JAPAN DOES. MUMU PEOPLE. 3 Likes |

Jonegonu: True. Indigenous is best. When one thinks of about it, Nigeria should be beyond simply assembling the vehicles of foreign car makers, so that those vehicles are sold to local and other African markets. It’s up to Innoson and other indigenous companies to take advantage of the opportunity that Nigeria offers and that too many Nigerians do not due to short-sightedness. It’s this short-sightedness that Dangote exploits, leading to him monopolising vast markets in Nigeria. Innoson needs to begin looking at producing electric vehicles and there are US companies keen on working with start up Ev makers that would work with ingenuous Nigerian auto makers willing to venture into this field. Interestingly, several top analysts believe that Toyota is in trouble having fought against the Ev revolution although Toyota was an early pioneer with its hybrid Prius . Toyota lost its early lead to Tesla, VW, Mercedes, Hyundai and several other OM’s by pursuing the Hydrogen route. Innoson could work with companies like Sandy Monroe Associates that specialise in helping companies engineer vehicles or improve on vehicles they already produce. The company also helps in advising on assembly line and machine tools for manufacturing the relevant parts. Innoson should study Elon Musk, start investing in EV stations in place of Petrol Stations etc think in advance, look at the lack of infrastructure as opportunity not hindrances |

Nigerians are primarily innovative and forward looking people, we should be looking at current trends such as Eve’s and moving forward rather than looking backward dragging outdated modes with small up-coming African nations. China is also a leading EV nation willing to work with Nigeria, why fight to be friends with the likes of Japan that are influenced by the West and consequently would snub Nigeria as the West does, when China is there ready and willing to assist and work with Nigeria? 1 Like |
