They know it won't favour them

So it might not happen

We will still be using this 17th century system of voting for a long time

Who knows how to get a ussd code assigned to me?
Re: USSD, Mobile Or E-Voting In Nigeria: A Possibility Or A Dream? by emonis88: 7:08pm On Jul 02, 2021
I don't think it is too late to use d ussd method for 2023. If our inec. Is truly independent, they can make it happen. It us a technology already in use for other purposes so can be used for our voting system.

Why do you think we can't vote with nin? Because the fulanis can't rig by bringing their brothers from Niger

how many eligible voters use internet enabled gadget, especially in rural areas.

If USSD is adopted, it doesn't need internet, only a mobile network connection, which already exists in all nooks and crannies of the country.

U seen wrong here
FalseProphet1:
There will be no elections in 2023, in fact Nigeria will cease to exist before then, so the issue of whether or not e-voting will be adopted by inec shouldn't come up.

This I have seen.

The genuineness of your writeup is not different from the dishonest voting system you just spoke about.
You failed to call a spade a spade.
You know, like every other person that as at today, we have not recorded anything near fair election in Nigeria, but rig saddled exercises, cover-ups, and whatever you have.

We should learn to sound plain in this country, if we need God's help.

Theunbothered:
You are placing the integrity of the vote in the hands of network companies. It is not independent anymore

You have a point, however remember that USSD is already in use for banking transactions and the networks providers have no impact on these transactions but are merely facilitators. If properly thought out it's possible to apply this to conduct of elections as well.

I like your spirit. However as much as I'd have liked it to be adopted in 2023 General Elections, there's still a lot of work to do in terms of programming, deployment, enlightenment, testing etc.

A network provider can not mess up ussd regularly because they also earn from it and can be sued if a large number of suspicious bank operations are detected.

Even at that ussd has frequently failed it's users.

Now when considering voting the network provider makes no money from it and must serve a large number of people during a short amount of time.

They can be enticed by politicians to rig in their favour, and rigging is harder to detect.

The essence of my write up is to stir up our general consciousness to a possible solution to our election management problems. It's true that we haven't had perfectly free and fair elections in Nigeria. Even the June 12, 1993 elections. which have so far been adjudged the freest and fairest elections ever held in Nigeria still had some flaws.

GAZZUZZ:
With NIN it should be easy for every one over 18 to be identified with ease and vote in any polling center as long as the system is online realtime.

No double votes, no cards or registers required, just your finger print and a a reader.

Exactly bro. Just your NIN which is a unique identifier that cannot be duplicated on the system. One Man, One NIN, One Vote. Multiple votes are automatically invalidated and cannot even register in the first place.

I'm not a programmer, but we have fantastic techie Nigerian brains both home and abroad to make this work.
