How AFIDE Banks Unbanked Daily Earners — The AFIDE Story by Inuayo007: 11:12am On Jul 04, 2021
According to the United Nations, 47% of Nigerians belong to the lower class and about 81% of them are daily earners, a huge part of their daily earnings goes into thrift collection and survival which makes their profits an exclusion from the national GDP. By reason of their source of income, majority of them are unbanked and vulnerable to health and life risks as it is impossible for them to enjoy social welfares which consequently excludes them from leveraging on societal benefits such as bank loan; capable of adding quality values to their business and ultimately their lives.

Following, the research further stated that a good number of daily earners are formally under-educated which has resulted to a conventional mental pattern of frail knowledge about banking coupled with disorientation on the modus operandi of commercial banks and its means of acquisition loans; which has contributed immensely to their exclusion.

In other to create an atmosphere that allows daily earners benefit from acquiring assessable and convenient loans, FarmKonnect Farmers’ Multipurpose Cooperative Limited via the AFIDE Project engineered by FarmKonnect Nigeria PLC has partnered with top reputable Commercial Banks that avail loans for the AFIDE Project Subscribers who have partnered with the initiative and entrusted their funds into the project over time.

The partnership has bridged the exclusion gap which have been a major financial concern among daily earners. Utilizing the collaboration, the AFIDE cooperative model is providing an enabling supportive system to interested individuals, groups, associations under the category of daily earners in other to ensure their lives and businesses improve.

Additionally, the prime goal of the AFIDE project is to help Daily Earners entrust their daily funds into agriculture as it empowers them to make profits while their contributions become security for them to secure loans from banks in partnership with AFIDE. The banks directly disburse the loan to the subscribers while AFIDE under the supervision of FarmKonnect Nigeria PLC gives them cooperative guarantee.

Conclusively, The AFIDE system is designed such that daily earners from different categories operating in the local markets and extensions become part of the mission to achieve food security and zero hunger while they earn sustainable income from modern day agriculture.
