Why Is Nairaland So Toxic These Days by Credobee(m): 3:46pm On Jul 04, 2021
I stumbled upon Nairaland through a news item I read from LIB back in early 2000s.
Then Nairaland together with Nairalist became my one stop site for anything I needed information about.
The members were so accommodating and helpful to one another.
I subsequently registered as a member so that I can also contribute and air my thoughts.
But lately Nairaland seems to have gone to the dogs as trolls have infiltrated the site and curses and abuses seems to be the order of the day.
Worse still is the apparent lack of discipline for erring offenders from both the admin and moderators.
The admin and moderators need to wield the big stick and hit it hard on offenders.
The site is fast losing relevance if urgent and drastic measures are not implemented to improve the user experience of the once glorious site...

Nairaland is a reflection of Nigerian and how they feel about each other.
Some posts here that are toxic might be paid for by politicians, parties or persons /groups with self interest.

Other foreign interests hoping to sell weapons for mineral rights or increased price of oil in the market can hire a few hands to stock the fire for peanuts.

It is up to the level heads to remember the Nigeria they grew up in and promote that spirit.

You are RIGHT.
we are known for Insolence and Aggression.
Not just on Nairaland but across the world.
I Feel terrible each time I drive and see how CALM other natives of other countries drive.

NAIRALAND is a product of Nigeria which happens to be a tortured & a tormented Nation.
So it's not surprising at all.
Go to the streets and see insults.
Even the way our Clergymen preach should tell you something is not right with us.

Go 2d banks & see how seniors insult juniors.
Go 2d Hospitals & see how Senior Doctors insult Junior ones right before patients. Such makes patients lose confidence in the Junior doctors.

But Nairaland wasn't like this before.
I concur with you on most of your observations.
The Nigerian society is losing its soul.

Remind again of the work of the admin and moderators.

And the admins and moderators are ignorant of what to do about the situation.
