EMEKA IHEDIOHA AND THE MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME A MAN OF THE PEOPLE

The past few months have been the most challenging in the life of our nation at large, and the Southeast in particular.

Tales of the dreaded Unknown Gun Men filled the heart with fear. But for some people, it was just another something to play politics with.

Part of what fueled the political arguments at the time was the inability of men of power, across political lines in the state, to come out openly and condemn the mayhem that was going on.

Chief among these is Chief Emeka Ihedioha, the Supreme Court-sacked Governor of Imo state.

His followers were all over the media space showing tacit support for the carnage that was going on, simply because it made the State ungovernable in their thinking.

But what his media army failed to realize was that those trying times provided an opportunity for the Mbaise-born politician to rise to the occasion and show us what leadership means.

Instead of supporting the unrest through his silence, he would have come out openly to condemn the attacks on the properties of the state. Instead his followers were gloating. They were the first to share any bad news, all in the bid to portray the present government as incompetent and overwhelmed.

What this shows is that Ihedioha is not really interested in the welfare of Imo state. His only concern is to have power. He is only interested in answering the Governor of Imo state.

This brings to mind the Bible story of the two women who were arguing about the maternity of a baby. When the case was brought to King Solomon, he instructed, in his God-given wisdom, that the baby be split in two, so that the women will have a piece of it.

While the impostor claiming ownership of the baby urged him on to split the baby, the real mother couldn't bear to see that. She instead asked that the baby be kept alive, even if the other woman would have it. Because she cares about the life of the baby, as the real mother. In the end, that was all Solomon needed to find out the real mother of the baby.

In the past few days, a press release went viral online of Ihedioha commending Buhari over the rearrest of Nnamdi Kanu. Whether the press release is true or not is out of the question. What is rather amazing is the sheer amount of effort the Ihedioha camp has put into trying to debunk the release. Why? But when the state was burning they were clapping.

Does that not say something about the complicity of Ihedioha in the challenges of the past couple of months?

Is it possible that Emeka Ihedioha is an unknown gunman?

If Ihedioha cares about the good of Imo state like his media hordes will have us believe, why did he keep quiet all these while, only to go into overdrive because his credibility and sincerity is now at stake?

While we may never have the answers to these questions, one thing is certain: Omemma mere onwe ya.

He who does good, does it for himself, because what goes around comes around.

What a foolish write up! So Emeka Ihedioha should not debunk a false statement attributed to him?

You OP, did you make a statement that it was wrong when the Supreme Court declared a fourth placed contender the winner of an election?

Emeka Ihedioha name is really giving you and your puppet party nightmare in IMO State. I feel your pain. If there will be an election come 2023, you and your party will be overwhelming booted out of IMO State.
