2023: North will support candidate from any part of the country, CNG replies Southern governors

By Muhammad Sabiu - Kaduna

On Jul 6, 2021

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has told the Southern Governors Forum that it would only support a candidate that will unite the country irrespective of where he or she comes from.

This was even as it said the North will not be stampeded into making decisions around rotating the presidency in 2023.

This was contained in a statement issued by their spokesman on behalf of the CNG, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman on Tuesday.

It said, “the Southern Governors and their collaborators should not attempt to hoist an incompetent leadership on the nation in the name of rotation.”

According to the statement, “the North will not accept this arrangement and shall be vehemently resisted.

“We specifically warn Kashim Shettima, Nasir El-Rufai and other northern collaborators, of the futility of pursuing their personal exploits for the vice presidency through this impossible battle to hand over our future and the entire North to interests that see a united and numerically superior North as a major political obstacle.”

To this end, the statement warned northern collaborators, “one of whom led, and the other is leading administrations that have acquired the reputation of being the worst in the history of their respective states.”

It noted that “the extent of their collaboration would not go unnoticed, and in the fullness of time, they will be called to account.”

CNG also called on the Federal Government to take immediate steps to disband all militias and armed groups in Nigeria by resort to the use of force if needs be, to ensure that no group has the capacity to challenge the state in its prerogative to maintain law and order and protect citizens’ lives and properties.

On grazing law, CNG “emphatically repudiated the insistence on the passing of the anti-grazing law by the Southern Governors,” saying that it potentially jeopardises the lives and property of pastoral communities in the South.

To this end, it called on the Federal Government to ensure their right to freedom of movement is not impeded by any legislation or obstacle imposed by a state or a community.

“We invite all northerners to note that clearly, the pattern drawn from these strategies employed by the Southern Governors and elites are to achieve the results that the events of 1966 failed to realize, namely the destabilisation of the country and in particular, bringing the North down on its knees by political and economic incapacitation.”

They can keep their presidency. We are already thinking about the constitution of Yorubaland. A constitution that will not rob Peter to pay Paul. A constitution steeped in fairness, equity and justice for all citizens.

Interesting times ahead..

This goes to show that the Northern elites don't plan on stepping down in 2023 for South.
Now that the Southern governors have registered it in our subconscious, let's wait and see.

In 2023, Southern region, Middle belt region and the core North will be the ones to decide.. nothing like one North or fraudulent Arewa anymore.

Numerically as how? Who told this people Hausa or fulani plenty pass for this country!
They forget a gentlemen agreement of rotating the PRESIDENCY btw north and south keep this country one since MKO was denied his mandate...
They fear a southern president will do what Ask rock is doing to us now...lol

This will be the most bitter pill to swallow for the north...2022 will be decisive for This country.

Hmmmm, the Southern Governors Forum should stand on their feet in cooperation if they want to achieve anything at all.
But come to think of it,why can't they fight for their nations? Well, they cannot do that because their investments will be gone

I'm a Northerner and average reasonable Northerners want power to shift to South, we've learnt lots of lesson from PMB's administration that certain things can't be achieved with power in ur region. All those alleging Nepotism or lopsided appointments don't understand that masses won't benefit anything from appointment of their own, they can only get poorer and the appointees will enjoy their loot alone.
We extremely appreciated the hand of friendship with Yoruba that brought PMB to power and we don't want be remembered as hypocrites to disengage from the alliance. No matter how bad PMB ruled we are almost free from BH insurgency that occupied almost all North, now it's mainly between military and insurgents despite other challenges.
We'll pay back those with whom we made alliance.
All Nairaland members hallucinating delusionally that if power change hand something reasonable will come out are mistaken. Politicians are enemies on the eyes of masses and best friends behind our eyes. They don't have ethno-religious issues, all they know is power and money, they have little respect for their people deep in their heart, all those noise making are strategies to win the foolish masses hearts.
In due time North will support Tinubu en masse!
