The Cross River State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ivara Ejemot Esu has called for a wider acceptability from citizens on the ongoing Covid-19 Vaccination exercise as a means of preventing deaths due to Covid-19 infections. Prof. Esu made this call in Calabar shortly after completing his second dose of the Oxford Astrazeneca Vaccine signalling a full immunity to the Covid-19 virus.

Prof. Esu said, "With other Countries recording drastic reduction in death rates as a result of strict compliance to vaccination and other Covid-19 prevention protocols, leaders and influencers in the Country should continue to push for a more rapid response in vaccine acceptability. Am feeling well and great after the first and second doses and i decided to take it alongside my Wife to show a good example as a leader and to tell my citizens that it's very safe and as such they shouldn't listen to all the social media propaganda.

"No doubts the vaccine is effective and as such am calling on everyone to take the vaccine because if i wasn't sure of it i won't take it alongside my wife. As a State we are very proud of the efforts and proactive nature of our Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu and the DG of the CRSPHCDA Dr Janet Ekpeyong for helping to keep Covid-19 away from our State."

Mrs Omotunde Ivara Esu assured cross riverians of the vaccine's potency and safety after completing the second dose stating her fear at first as she's feeling ok and strong.

On her part, the Health Commissioner Dr Betta Edu stated that with the Vaccine you're sure to have immunity against COVID-19. As a State we've done so well in vaccinating our population and we're leading the entire Country in terms of the vaccine coverage for the targeted population with over 117% coverage, there is no vaccine hesitancy . I call on cross riverians to out and come get vaccinated and continue to abide on the Covid-19 protocols."

Speaking on the wide level of compliance and acceptability in the state, Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong said mass mobilization were carried out with supports from strategic leaders who were able to debunk rumors about the vaccine. She encouraged other leaders to support the State in achieving 100% coverage of the eligible population in the stipulated time.

Some of the respondents who spoke with Channels Telivision said, they believe in the Efficacy of the vaccines the surest means of getting themselves protected against Covid-19. Go get vaccinated as its very safe.
