Between Pharmacy and MBBs which should I study.

I can endure stress... But I don't want what I will look back on someday and say "damn, I wasted all those years". I want to earn every income worth every stress and hardwork I input. Please advice me guys!!!

Pls I don't want all those who will flood the thread with "passion talk" coz I have passion for anything that'll enable me to solve problems... The sole reason I ain't going for Engineering is because I can't rely on employer or connections in Nigeria.

And also I don't want all those "study MBBS and leave Nigeria" folks. Leaving Nigeria no be by teeth, people full Yankee wey de compete for MBBS spot and also MDs competing for residency spot in Yankee + going there costs so damn much with heavy Competition.

Anyways I'll love to know which to opt for in Nigeria that will practically secure my future for all the hard work I'll put in.

P.S: this isn't bout money! I don't need school to make money. The internet is a GOLD MINE.

Both are challenging but I'll advise you take MBBS for the following reasons :
1. You won't lack a job as far as Nigeria is concerned (because only two things are selling Nigeria and that is sickness and corruption. So you'll always have a job as a doctor treating sick people)

2. As a doctor you'll be doing your parents proud by earning the prestige and honor attached to the title, and as it stands, our Nigerian parents love hearing that sound "Doctor ". Especially the Yoruba ones.

3. You'll be able to work on your own terms and retire whenever it suits you.

If it's money , excessive one, old pharmacist have it more than old Doctors.. Cox they have already occupied the importation, buy and selling space, but wen we are talking of today and future, good number of Doc counterpart are living better .. Old Pharm bigwigs have occupied the juicy spot in the buying and selling of Drugs.. Pharm Industry isn't something u can just wake up and open, u go need enough capital and co things.

An average pharm Las Las has shop not too better than a chemist shop, except for big old pharm shops..

Doctors?? Lol.. as a general practitioner self u ll live an average if u know ur onion not to talk of specialists.

MBBS then also gives u room to specialize in many field as a surgeon or as an internal medicine and u know we have diff surgery dept, diff internal medicine dept.. lol , what abt pharmacy specializatiin?? They have I but which one have u economically heard of?? Just one and the rest are hoping for employment in Emzor, they end up opening shop competing with chemist.

Doctors ,Further in ur residency and ur start up is 350+, Snr reg get close to 500k,

Be a consultant ur earn is close to 600+k , have a private clinic or have consultations as a specialist along the above and keep making money in millions.

Beside the leverage of escaping abroad too is there for u, pass ur plab or usmle and enter UK, Australia and earn blood money..

Most of the private hosp now don't give u their prescription pad to get drug outside, u ll rather go to their pharmacy, get the drug and pay before getting ur drugs and prescription.. I won't treat u and give u prescription pad to go and buy nonscence outside except if my hosp pharmacy shop dont have the drug, na bad thing but naso we dey run am.. we employ a pharmacist in the hosp pharm shop.

So most of the patient going to externally pharmacy are those who self medicate or where the hosp pharmacy doesn't have the drug,.

As far as there must be patient, their must be Doctor to treat now and forever.

Guy .. I'm done talking.
NB I'm not throwing jab at pharmacy o, pharmacy is a good course too, my ex is a pharmacy student.

Damn it, I heard u say u can take any stress. grin.. of course u can but , enter fess and experience the catapilar jam of ur life. Studying Medicine is as stressful as hell, from getting the admission to the continuation, na worry, only year 1 and preclinical LL give u bread and butter. oh year 4 pathology and pharmacology class . Respect..ur wahal start there to

To the almighty pediatrics, it's fainting..

I'm a 500level medic bro.. e go be now.

Remove Yankee from your mind. With MD and DO programs merging residency programs together, it is 99.999999% impossible for a foreign trained medical graduate without Green card/citizenship (This doesn’t help sef) to secure a spot.

I get it alot that MBBS in Nigeria is not worth it. And when I eventually pass through it I should run abroad... I know that's a very bad idea.

I don’t understand your post, all I’m saying is that it is impossible for a Nigerian trained Dr to practice in the US now. It only going to get worst in the future.

I agree with you that its a bad idea to study MBBS in Nigeria for the sole purpose of going abroad... I aspired for MBBS not knowing that there's actually a course called Pharmacy and now I need wise and practical counsel regarding the better choice...

Well, Nigerian trained Drs are still getting licensed to practice in the UK. Pharmacy is completely useless in the US. Even US trained pharmacist are finding it difficult to get a job. If you are looking at traveling abroad, Nursing is the best option but if you want to practice in Nigeria, MBBS/BDS should be fine.

Yes, I'm quite aware that pharmacy is useless in the US due to automation. However, I'm not planning on going abroad actually. I want to study what will give me the avenue to make cool money in Nigeria. What do you recon I do?

Bro, Stop worrying yourself with choice of course to read in a Nigeria University. Just goto school and get a degree. Nobody cares if you graduate with first class or you're a doctor.

That was Nigeria of the past. Even doctor don't have jobs today. If nor of the listed course's isn't given to you. Just find one stress free course and do.

You think say na to go school, and become a doctor or a graduate of first class.

Once you enter that school. Your eye go open. You will be expose to the real side of life.

Na before way degree dey determine person success for Nigeria. Now na hustle.

That is just it. You get the point now?
