Its surprising how few people consider policy when it comes to economic outcomes. How is anyone surprised is weird considering they supported import bans to save forex and help the farmers. Also he exposed his failure in terms of security hence why he's afraid to publish crime stats. Buhari is reaping the bounty the sewed but doesn't want his credit for it.

You're correct about import bans and forex restrictions as having a finger in the rising food prices. Cheap imported food would have moderated food prices but that's not the case now. Imported food is also immune from bandits, killer herdsmen and Boko Haram.

What I really find amusing is that being self sufficiency in food production does not end hunger. As the Economist rightly pointed out, the primary cause of hunger isn't a lack of food but rather a lack of money. That's why India still suffers from childhood malnutrition despite food sufficiency

In 2013, Nigeria's per capita income was about $3,000. It's now about $2,500. If only PMB maintained the policies he inherited, the amount would be like $4,500 today.

Anyway, in 2 years time, he'll be out. What a relief!
