There was this time when I was still in school and I was living with a friend. We had two hotplates (electric cooking stove). My friend had one and I had one. It wasn't these usual hotplates that do get spoilt every 3 days. We used better ones.

Then one day, my landlord's wife came to borrow our hot plate. But because we needed to make a meal, we brought out the other. That was how mama said, "oh, it's even two you guys have." She used it and returned it sha.

Before we knew it, mama has come back to borrow the next day. But instead of using and returning immediately, she will leave it in her kitchen for days. Until we ask for it.

We started getting pissed by her attitude regarding using the hotplate. Not that we couldn't even leave one for her but it was the bigger, hotter, and better one, that's why it was the main one we were using too.

My friend suggested we take the hot plate and put it in our room. I told him she will start having grudges with us. He said he doesn't care. I told him there are other and better ways to deal with people.

It was this time Muslims were having Ramadan and my landlord's wife would have come to take the hotplate from our kitchen early in the morning if it wasn't with her. So that morning, before she came. I went to the kitchen, removed the hotplate's fuse, and went back inside.

I waited some minutes and I heard mama's footsteps. She went and carried it as usual. And after some minutes, she tiptoed to return. She used it with our kitchen's electric socket, to be sure it's not that her kitchen's electric socket is faulty, but the thing no still work. She quietly left it and left there. Good business, well done, I told myself.

That was how mama didn't come for our hotplate again o. We sef just took it inside and use it from our room. And we averted 3rd World War and lived happily ever after.
