The University of Ibadan (UI), in Oyo State has banned all unauthorized visitors and travelers coming to the institution.

The institution noted that this decision was necessary in view of the 3rd wave of coronavirus pandemic that is ravaging the world.

gathered that the institution had earlier cancelled physical lectures due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It has, however, commenced physical lectures for both undergraduate and post-graduate students.

But as parts of efforts to curtail the spread of Delta Variant of Corona virus (COVID-19), it has banned all unauthorized visitors in the institution.

Registrar of the institution, Olubunmi Faluyi, in a statement made available to on Saturday, also advised students against accommodating squatters.

Faluyi also urged members of the institution to report violators of health safety protocols to appropriate authorities.

“Management has noted the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the recently discovered Delta variant and the placement of some states (including Oyo State) on red alert by the Federal Government.

“The fact that the University of Ibadan Health Services has not recorded any confirmed case of COVID-19 or an increase in flu-related/flu-like symptoms (for this season/time of the year) in the last three months suggests that if we are proactive in observing all health safety protocols, we can effectively prevent and spare the UI community from the third wave/new variant of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All hands must be on deck, especially in the Halls of Residence, in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Each person must take direct responsibility of his/her health safety.

“The following should be strictly adhered to in halls of residence: No unauthorized visitors. No unscreened travellers/visitors. No squatters.

“Violators of health safety protocols must be promptly reported to appropriate authorities,” she stated.

The school did not ban visitors
It's not even possible
They're only taking measures against
unauthorized visiting and covid-19 compliance in HORs

if you really are judging from the first few lines, you'd see :"unauthorized visitors" on the first line.

The moderators need to push this to the front page. Everyone needs to see this and adopt this method to reduce the spread of the virus. Imagine Uniport students throwing large parties yesterday at their sign out ceremony on school premises in a critical time like this. @sissy3
