The Eleme Asix of the East west Road in Rivers State has been blocked by protesters demanding the immediate fixing of the road by the Federal Governent. The road which leads to companies such as Indorama Eleme Petrochemical, Port Harcourt Refinery, Notore Chemical Industries,Onne Seaport, Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone has been in a very deplorable state.

One of the protesters said 'Sometimes we spend more than 3 hours from Akpajo junction to Alode junction due to bad road and blockade from trucks.The Rivers State Deputy Commissioner of Police came to address us yesterday and appealed that the road should be opened, but we objected. We heard FG delegation will be coming from Abuja today, but we don't want negotiations. The people have agreed not to leave the road until we see contractors working on site.'

All the major junctions from around Eleme junction, Akpajo, Refinery, Alode, New town and Trailer Park are blocked with trucks and hundreds of protesters within the area.
