A few days after the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) went to court to challenge the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the April 16 presidential poll, leaders of CPC in the South-South, South East and South West zones have disassociated themselves from the party’s petition at the court.
They made this known duing a press briefing at the Excellence Hotels, Ogba, Lagos, yesterday.

Spokesman of the 17-man team, Dr. Sylvester Chukwuemeka, CPC, Anambra State chairman, said in a statement: “We have undertaken a critical appraisal of the just-concluded elections held last month, most importantly the presidential election, and observe that the exercise witnessed a huge turnout of voters in their renewed desire to choose their representatives, that the conduct of the elections was largely peaceful and patriotic, that the security agencies rose sufficiently to meet the threat of violence by adopting proactive measures, though there were some post-election crises in some parts of the country, that party candidates demonstrated the spirit for a new political dawn with losers accepting to support the people’s choice, that the incumbent administration led by Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan created a level-playing ground for the conduct of a free and fair election and was neutral in such a way that facilitated the performance of INEC.”

Emphasizing that the zones represented by his team had disassociated themselves from the CPC petition to challenge PDP’s victory at the presidential poll, Chukwuemeka said: “That we strongly condemn the post-election crises in some parts of the country that resulted in the killings of 10 innocent youth corps members, that we offer our condolences to the affected families, organizations and President of the Republic of Nigeria.

“That there can be no justification whatsoever for the orgy of violence that trailed the presidential election, that accordingly, we unequivocally disassociate ourselves from the statements by Abubakar Malami, legal adviser of our party, who sought to explain away the serial arson and wanton murders during the riots. We strongly believe that if CPC supporters all over the country were truly dissatisfied with the outcome of the elections, it remains curious why the riots occurred only in some parts of the North. And we suspect, as stakeholders of the party in the South, comprising three zones in the country, that we may have been deliberately left out of the game-plan of the CPC, including the post-election violence, because certain persons reasoned, and correctly too, that we could never have subscribed to such evil plan to take the law into our own hands, by wasting lives of innocent citizens. We admit that our party was ill-prepared and this caused the loss of CPC in the elections.”

Members of the stakeholders include Afolabi Ogunde (Edo State), Graceman Iheanacho (Abia), Ben O. Anuebunwa (Imo), Adewale Adeleke (Oyo), Emeka Okafor (Enugu), Austin Asuowo, Sir Nnoli Amechi (South West), Obong Effiong Bassey Obofinyah (Akwa Ibom), Com. Williams Borezi (Bayelsa), Chike Nwode (Ebonyi), Chief Obiesie Andrew Okafor (South West) and Edward Ofomona of Delta.

@TINUBU4LIFE

You are talking as if the forensic tests will only apply to southern ballots. CPC will be thouroughly embarassed with the level of ballot stuffing their members forced on d NYSC ad hoc staff, some of whom they later murdered/maimed. Buhari will on judgement day give account to Allah abt the blood of innocent souls spilled on his name. F*cking bastards.
