adecz: It still proves my point anyways. Peter Konyegwachie was cheated I know that by the way. But that's irrelevant. We don't have the setup to consistently do well in olympic boxing or boxing in general |

ignis: Which is 1.Lack of talent, secondary to lack of interest 2.Lack of funding...whether from government, private or the taxpayer. 3.Lack of expertise...when there is no interest, there is no expertise 4.Lack of a structured competition similar to the NCAA and high school competitions in the USA. modified All that you are saying..they said it back in the 1980's, 1990's 2000's and even in 2012 when we came back with nothing. Because we cried about the problem and did nothing about the solution |

Nigerian government doesn’t encourage the youths to get involved in sport. This is the reason a country with population of over 200 million people can’t win shit in Olympic. How do you expect youths to involve in all these sports with empty stomach |

Litmus:We have so many problems in this country. More than half of the athletes were sponsored by private company's and individuals for the Olympic games. The government has to take sole responsibility for the poor performance. Look at the 10 athletes that were banned. Its poor administration that lead to that from the ministry. |

Ashirioluwa: There is also the fact that people prefer sports that pay to the ones that don't. And for now football pays. Sports like hockey field events, wrestling etc don't pay that much |

i wish i can love your comment one million times. if people pay attention to details just as you have pointed out, we should all bury our heads in shame rather than applauding a 4th place finish. Note: I am not condemning the athletes themselves, for everything they have been able to achieve thus far is by personal effort which the Nigerian nation still manages to frustrate every step along the way, for I can imagine the psychological impact the disqualification of ten of their colleagues would had on them. szczescie: |

Minor observation on the probable psychology of the Nigerians athletes: Tobi and Blessing had angry faces -angry unpleasant faces is not normally a Nigerian thing unlike on many African people faces. Naturally pleasant looking faces are one of the ways I am able to tell a Nigerian apart from other Africans. We don’t carry swollen, dirty looking faces in spite of our difficulties and maybe it was because we didn’t use to carry vindictive mindsets, I don’t know. Tobi was pleasant looking in Australia commonwealth games. Anger is not the same thing as determination and if anyone is advising Nigerian athlete to look angry, they most desists at once. Anger saps energy (in sports). A warrior’s Berserker Rage or drug induced rage are different types of anger. Pride – whether it be racial, ethnic, National, class etc- is a more useful psychological tool in sports than anger. |

Ayomi90:Correction: The curse and terrorism can only be designated to some minority and not the majority. Analogously, there are some highly placed individuals in USA that are very evil, and the US has been involved in state sponsored terrorism under the guise of promoting democracy all over the world, that has resulted in deaths of tens of millions of people all over the world, and they still achieve many sporting victories. |

fergie0o1: She raced pretty well! Unfortunately she had a pretty poor start - probably the slowest reaction time of the entire field. If not for that, she very likely would have picked up a medal. 2 Likes |

Fragility6: People have succeeded Wit less available, examples are everywhere, so all you do is guide. If it we were to go by your words any who has high resources most succeed irrespective of interest, all ivy schools in Nigeria would be winning competitions back to back or be better than all the kids out there. Panic or less preparation which is common in Nigeria isn't an excuse ba? An average Nigerian athlete, starts training late into adolescence and most ain't got no talent plus they ridicule themselves with performance enhancing drugs to beat fellow Nigeria, age people falsify nko? No further response will be given. |

Mopolchi: The fact that she is doing well in wrestling does not mean all is well with our sports. (The wrestler who did well is 1) no1 in Africa 2) also in the top 5 globally. So performance is par the course) |

Mopolchi: That is one determined girl, very dedicated, busy, and unwilling to settle for excuses at the expense of what she will gain from the fame of winning honours. She deserve gold, I’ll be praying. Apart for the next opponent the only other obstacle will be poor officiating and blood sample test in laboratories overseen by Nationals and systems we have no way of monitoring for bias and skulduggery. |
