Lionel Messi has decided to leave Barcelona. To say the least, the historic club's bombshell dumped on the football world on Thursday was unexpected. The Argentine was due to sign his new deal at the Camp Nou on August 5. The extension's financials were unable to achieve, therefore Messi is now on the free market. Let this serve as a lesson to those who are clamoring for Chelsea to sign Erling Haaland for £500k a week. Due to its financial irresponsibility, Barcelona has lost one of the greatest footballers of all time.

Messi has been a free agent since July 1, but no club has made an effort to pursue him because it was assumed he would stay at Barcelona. We now know this is not the case, and some transfer directors will surely convene emergency meetings with their teams late Thursday night. Due to their financial clout, the Blues will be one of the names mentioned in relation to Messi. Nonetheless, Messi's chances of joining Chelsea are close to none at this point. The latter is more plausible, but if football has taught us anything in recent years, it's that the seemingly impossible can (and will) happen.

In the aftermath of his departure from Barcelona, Lionel Messi to Chelsea is an unattainable pipe dream. Only because of a 2018 interview with Pablo Zabaleta is this myth even circulating. Messi used to play for Chelsea on FIFA, according to Zabaleta, a former West Ham and Manchester City player. When he was a defender at Espanyol, Zabaleta said he played the popular football video game with the Barcelona superstar. From 2005 to 2008, the 11-year Argentine National Team veteran spent three years with the Spanish club. It's no surprise that Messi decided to play on FIFA with those Chelsea teams, considering they were among the best in the world at the time. Furthermore, connections formed out of mutual respect for a club and one's video game preferences aren't always solid.

Messi is currently prepared to leave Barcelona on a free transfer. On the surface, his next team will be getting a fantastic deal due to the lack of a transfer fee. With the additions of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Georginio Wijnaldum, Paris Saint-Germain showed the world how effective and efficient free transfers can be this summer. However, the wages paid to these players are frequently out of this world. The same will be true for Messi, who will be paid exorbitantly. Chelsea's delicate wage structure, which it has worked so hard to establish, would be shattered. This is likely one of the main reasons Blues will not pay a premium price for Haaland, whose weekly salary will be absurdly high.

Chelsea does not want Messi for financial reasons, but there is also no room in the team for him. It may seem strange to say that when discussing the finest player on the planet, but it is true. Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, and Callum Hudson-Odoi are already stacked upfront for the Blues, and the projected transfer of Romelu Lukaku will just add to that. Make no mistake: Messi is unquestionably superior to any winger on Thomas Tuchel's current lineup. Hudson-Odoi, Mount, and Pulisic are all long-term players. Messi will not be taking his talents to Stamford Bridge, as the current stands. He may travel to Chelsea's historic grounds with Manchester City on September 25, but he will not be wearing the Blues' shirt next season. It's wishful thinking, but for supporters, it's nothing more than a far-fetched pipe dream.

What is your take on Messi possibly coming to Chelsea?
Kindly share your thoughts below. Thanks

These reasons are not solid enough. With the likes of Ansu Fati, griezmann, dembele, coutinho, braithwaite and now aguero, even Barcelona have more and better players upfront...

When Ronaldo went to juventus didn't they off shirt for him?
.
Let's be real...you said it urself Messi is superior to them...chelsea can always sign him.

.
You might only be right if you say tuchel might not want to work with him so messi won't start carrying all 'win-glories'
