What Africans should naturally be excelling at after all the years of slave trades and manual labour even then Western world is now beating us to it. This is just sad 1 Like |

I'm pained. Is this as a result of poor planning. I feel we have talents too in Africa. Can it be that those white athlete guys are doing doping and they intentionally turned a blind eye to it ? 1 Like |

Of course I wasn't expecting African countries to outperform other continents that came very prepared. |

Akwamkpuruamu:Even the little achievements are from individuals who either reside and train outside it's shores or have certain sponsorships from affluent person's, eg chukwumerije backed by his senator father, I think okagbare too and few others Overall Africa needs to get her acts right |

It's because Africans rarely participate in most events. From shooting, boat rowing, alpine skiing to diving, you will not see any African participant. Only when it comes to race, long jump, wrestling or weight lifting would you see Africans participate. 3 Likes |

2dominate:I'm talking of Africa nations collectively. Nigeria has a population of over 200 million people but atheist n pan africanist are less than 2000. I'm talking of the country collectively, not some few individuals. But to answer your question, the likes of Wole Soyinka is doing well, the likes of Sowore is doing well n fighting for the country too. |

The list isn't correct for Kenya and Uganda. Both countries have won more medals than what was listed. That aside, the level of performances coming from Africa corresponds to the level of investment into sports by African governments. The US, Chinese, UK and other successful countries invest massive, I mean massive amounts into sports usually running into millions or even billions of dollars. Also, a lot of their athletes have sponsors who provide them with the top class equipment and nutrition that they need. My final point with regards to the US and UK especially is the proliferation of blacks in their team. In sports where they do not naturally excel, they look for mercenaries who help them compete. |
