Line huggers are a rarity in modern day football. Modern coaches are gradually embracing the idea of inside forwards. Moreover, a false9 + a line hugger is disaster in waiting. The false 9 formation requires an inside forward to always drive in when the false striker joins the midfield.

For all the talk of dembele being a line hugger, he is gradually metamorphosing into an inside forward, especially when he plays on the left. This is because, in barca, fullbacks, not wingers are mandated with keeping width, and alba does this excellently so dembele is usually forced to play an inside role. On the right however, semedo's attacking is still suspect so once in a while, dembele hugs the line.

Uh its coach dependent actually, like Barca under Enrique, Neymar was a line hugging winger more than Messi, sha it was to create space for Iniesta to work the lines but via the middle. In Man City, Sterling, Sane and Mahrez are line huggers sha depending on what Guardiola wishes to accomplish in a particular match, Coutinho on the other hand has never been much of a winger, he would rather drop deep to pick the ball than space off wide to get the ball if you get my drift. There's certainly improvement in the league but that is not really down to Madrid as they are just having a terrible season and finding those post Ronaldo effect not funny as they didn't prepare for him leaving.Thats why I have to give it up to Valverde for filling that Neymar role and making us not to miss him

Anyways for the season,teams like Alaves,Eibar and Levante has really improved.Especially for Alaves.They improved massively and now win their away games.They play beautiful and attacking footbal.If someone like Ronaldo had bought the club or any serious investor will buy that club,they will be competing in the champions league at least in the next five years.They have already won Barca at Camp Nou and competed against Barca in Copa Del Rey final.It seems they are moving in the right direction to be La Ligas Dortmund

Only Alba has been providing width. Dembele is playing the position Coutinho is meant to be playing. And he isn't doing badly. Arthur is good, tho.
