The Assistant Director, Community Development Service and Special projects, Mr Ayibiowu Felix has told the 2021 Batch B stream I corps members that teaching is a noble profession. He highlighted the importance and benefits of teaching and encouraged those posted to schools to put in their very best to impact lives.

Ayibiowu implored corps members to always maintain good behaviour and conduct in the classrooms even as they carry out their tasks in order to set a worthy example.

“It's only normal that they will ask a few questions to understand your background. You know, some institutions are wary because of the behaviour of ex-corps members, you should maintain good conduct at all times,” he added.

While recounting his personal experiences, he outlined tips which corps members can use during teaching and stressed that corps members shouldn't look down on the teaching profession because of its nobility and importance in the society.

Furthermore, he highlighted rules which corps members must stick to while teaching students which include: noting the individual differences of their students, and to look for ways they can cater to the needs of special students who may likely be in their class.

Moreso, he indulged corps members to always endeavour to start with the basics before moving to the complex.

“It is important that the students get acquainted with the simpler aspects of a topic before they are introduced to the more difficult ones,” he said.

Mr. Ayibiowu further took corps members through the processes of managing the classroom and steps they should take while preparing their lesson notes and lesson plans.

He concluded by stating the steps corps members should take when presenting lessons to their students, and best practices for achieving success in the classroom.
