ANAMBRA DECIDES: Uzodimma, Umahi, Sanwo-Olu, others lead APC campaign council for Andy Uba

TO ensure its candidate, Senator Andy Uba wins the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has raised a strong national campaign council led by Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

The National Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, CECPC, Mai Mala Buni, approved the campaign council, which will be inaugurated on August 17.

Ebonyi State Governor, Engr Dave Umahi, is deputy chairman; Timi Sylva, election sub-committee chairman; High Chief Ikechi Emenike, Chairman, Strategy sub-committee; Chairman, Security sub-committee, Governor Yahaya Bello, and Chief Paul Chukwuma, Director-General.

The council also has Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos (Finance sub-committee chairman), Governor Abubakar Badaru (special interventions chairman), Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy House of Representatives Speaker Idris Wase as members.

There are also Governors Kayode Fayemi, Atiku Bagudu, Umar Ganduje , Abdurahman Abdulrazaq, Dapo Abiodun, Babagana Umaru Zulum, Nasir El Rufai, Aminu Masari, Abdullahi Sule, Abubakar Sani Bello, Rotimi Akeredolu, Simon Bako Lalong, Ben Ayade, Bello Matawalle, Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya, Gboyega Oyetola, and Bindo Jibrilla.

In the council are Mallam Abubakar Malami, SAN, Rotimi Amechi, former Governors Sulivan Chime, Akinwumi Ambode, Christopher Alao-Akala, Gbenga Daniel, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and George Akume, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Ahmed Ibeto, Senator Lawal Gumau, Senator Magnus Abe, Senator Jibrin Wowo, and Senator Nelson Efiong.

Other members of the council include: Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Senator Barau Jibrin, Senator Gaya Ibrahim Kabiru, Senator Boroffice Robert Ajayi, Senator Folarin Teslim Kolawole, Senator Emma Anosike, Senator Wilson Ake, Senator John Enoh, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Abubakar Gada;

Anambra Governorship poll: PDP appoints Ekwunife as Campaign DG

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday appointed Sen. Uche Ekwunife, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, as the director-general of its campaign for Anambra governorship election.

The Governor of Adamawa state, Mr Ahmadu Fintiri, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Abuja after the party leadership meeting held at the Abuja residence of the party National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.

Fintiri said that the decision was reached at the meeting held with governors, members of the National Working Committee and some of the aspirants who participated in the election.

Fintiri expressed satisfaction with the preparation being made for the election and the reconciliation of all aspirants for the election.

“We carried out the directives of our governors and reconciled all the aggrieved aspirants and it was unanimously agreed that Ekwunife be appointed the campaign director and she is so appointed.

“With her appointment, the campaigns for PDP recapturing Anambra will soon kick off. All aspirants have been reconciled.

“Anambra state belongs to the PDP and this will be confirmed at the Nov. 6 governorship election,” he said.

In his remarks, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche, Secondus expressed hope that come Nov. 6, the PDP would be would win the state election.

Secondus tasked all aspirants to forget the past and be united for the interest of the party.

Accepting the appointment, Ekwunife pledged her readiness to work together with all stakeholders to attain victory for the PDP.

She also promised to leverage on her vast political network in campaign for the party to win the election.

The PDP candidate for the State governorship election, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, said with the reconciliation, the PDP was set to take over Anambra.

Ozigbo said that with two senators and virtually all members of the State House of Assembly produced by PDP, the party would reclaim the Anambra.

ANAMBRA DECIDES: Obiano heads Soludo’s campaign council

Ahead of the November 6 governorship elections in Anambra State, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has constituted a National Campaign Council, NCC, for its governorship candidate Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

The campaign Council would be headed by the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano as Chairman, while the National Chairman of APGA, Dr. Victor Oye will serve as Deputy Chairman.

Other members include former National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, Dr. Chinedu Emeka, Mr. Emeka Sibeudu, APGA BoT members, Dr. Labaran Maku, APGA National Secretary, APGA current National Assembly members and Sir Norbert Obi.

Details of the campaign council released by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Barrister Tex Okechukwu, last night showed that the party also named Professor Chukwulobelu as the Director General, DG, of its State Campaign Council.

Other members of the 9-man APGA State Campaign Council include Hon. Primus Odili, Campaign Secretary, Finance and administration, and Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe, Deputy Director General in charge of Operations, Strategy and Security among others.

To ensure a comprehensive campaign at the grassroots ahead of the election, the party also announced the Constitution and names of Local Government Areas campaign Principal Officers.

Speaking earlier, the National Chairman of APGA, Dr. Victor Oye said the party was going ahead to organise robust campaign machinery to participate in the governorship poll.

He assured that party will emerge victorious notwithstanding the drama playing out at the INEC with the electoral umpire conspiring with impostors to cause confusion within the party.

Dr. Oye was optimistic that the party would get favourable judgment from the court of jurisdiction and that the party’ s governorship candidate, Professor Charles Soludo will win at the polls.

The INEC, on Friday published the list and personal particulars of candidates and their running mates for the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State.

INEC however dropped the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, and that of APGA, Prof.Chukwuma Soludo.

The commission, instead, named Chukwuma Michael Umeoji as the substantive candidate of APGA.
