Yes, it will service Abia too in the meantime, but in the long run Abia also needs to dredge the Obehie river same way Akwa Ibom dredged this river in collaboration with the Igbo businessman but we all know how Nigerian government always witch-hunts Igbo interests because they're afraid we will become more prosperous and independent to push for Biafra.
Exactly br9
If this river can be so easily dredged by up to 14 kilometers, then the Obehie river can also be dredged quite easily.
Exactly bro

A question I have asked time and time again. Some set of people want everything in their zone and will manoeuvre to block anything sighted elsewhere. Same set of people will then turn around to complain that Lagos is congested and that others should go back to their zone and develop it. Talk about having your cake and eating it.

Is it state government that built Tin Can, Apapa and MMIA? Is it state government that approves for ports to be built?
Nice question begging for who to answer

Thank you. If some set of people are genuinely concerned about congested Lagos, and it's associated ills, then they should be genuinely relentlessly campaigning and petitioning FG to move these things out of their zone or establish in other zones, and make sure it's properly dredged and operational. Other zones are willing to bear their "pains" grin

God bless Akwa Ibom state government.

5 Igbo states are still demanding and asking FG to dash them seaport. This just one state, a relatively new one for that matter, putting a seaport together and opening for business without wailing. This is something the state could not achieve in 16 years it was in the ruling party.
Is opposition not good like this?

Please help us ask those in charge to dredge the Niger River. When will it ever be done? With the dredging of the river, the issue of flooding, destruction of villages and properties on along the routes will cease. Many states are at risk now that the rains have come. Now Kogi state has advised its citizens to relocate to higher areas as the flood may be very devastating.

When will relief come in the form of dredging River Niger?

The dredging is a state government sponsored thing not federal. So talk to your state governor

Don’t know why your mind is fixated on Igbos!? Are we the only ethnicity....and south-east the only region in Nigeria!!? Which region has managed the most to survive and develop on its own with little or no federal gov’ts presence, if not the south/east!?

Assuming, without conceding, that your mean-spirited accusation is true....the south-east would be well within its rights to demand for such given the over-centralised, unitary gov’t in place in Nigeria! Or would you rather prefer we keep quiet while most federal funds and federally-enabled projects are cornered by the north-west....Katsina, specifically!?
