The umbrella body of Students in Ibeju Lekki, the National Association of Ibeju Lekki (NAILS) has sealed a partnership with the Local Government on Development and Industrial growth of Students and youths.

This was sealed during the congratulatory visit by NAILS executives to the chairman, Hon. Engr Abdullahi Sesan Olowa and Presentation of paper towards the development of students in the local government, on Friday at the Secretariat, Igando Oloja.

The President, Ibrahim Oladimeji Presenting the paper disclosed the importance of education as well as having a Pro-Youth/Students process across all board.

He added that Ibeju Lekki students are ranked first in nation building and are versatile in different disciplines.

According to the paper he presented, "There is no gainsaying that our basic education needs more proactive solution in order to aides effective teaching and learning process.
Meanwhile, when we focused our attention in basic education. The result will birth the following:
Reduction in Illiteracy,
Effective Communication Skills, Rights of the Child, Reduction Of Poverty, It Creates Jobs, Public health, Impact on Democracy".

He also requested that, the chairman should create Recreation, youth and vocational centres, saying that this will give government the opportunity to discover hidden talents.

According to the Request, "we urged the local government to start paying Bursary for Tertiary Institution students in Ibeju lekki, Award Yearly Scholarship for them, Provide sustainable school buses to our Primary school students, Provides Education infrastructural development, Providing Recreation/Youth Centre and vocational Centre in ibeju lekki.

"The association wants a portion as NAILS Secretariat in Ibeju lekki to equip and have data analysis of her members and a representative of Students in the administration as a aide" he concluded

Reacting to the Request, the chairman Ibeju Lekki local government, Hon. Engr Abdullahi Sesan Olowa appreciated the efforts of NAILS in supporting Government towards achieving Sustainable development of the local government.

He added that the body should commence Advocacy programs that will change the narrative of students from Basic to tertiary level.

In his words, "I appreciate all the efforts of students body, you have been doing great in developing our dear local government, if I can benefit from Bursary, why won't you benefit from it? We will surely give bursary and do scholarship but it will be a competitive one.

" it's disheartening that education had lost its value in our generation, during our time we compete with one another academically but today the story is different, hopefully the era will return soon.

"I urged the students body to start advocacy programs where you target the communities and where these young people usually carry out their operations (base) towards changing their orientation about Education and it's will affect their lives positively. Everyone in Ibeju lekki needs Either formal or informal education and we will make sure every child benefits from it.

"We will surely use sporting activities to equip our youths and create partnerships that works with national coaches to train, nurture our swimmers and Beach soccer which will be useful for the state and Nigeria at national as international competitions. NAILS should also help to work with the Opportunity desk created by the local government to give opportunities for the students and youths." he said

However, the executives had earlier visited the leader of the 6th Legislative Arm, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka who assured the Executives of NAILS that all their ideas will be related to the Council Mayor.

Executives present during the meeting are; President, Ibrahim Oladimeji, Secretary, Eleto Olorunsegun, Deputy PRO, Hassan Abdulsalam, Treasurer, Temilade Ogunbekun and the Welfare, Rasak Amina

Meanwhile, member representing Ibeju Lekki local government constituency 2 at the Lagos state House of Assembly, Hon Kazeem Raheem Adewale was also present during the meeting.
