Obey Ipob’s Sit-at-home Again, Lose Your Job, Shops, Umahi Warns Ebonyi Workers by Kwanza: 10:28pm On Aug 16, 2021
Governor Dave Umahi has threatened to fire workers in the state civil service who are complying with the sit-at-home directive of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).

Mr Umahi who issued the threat on Monday in Abakaliki also warned traders to desist from complying with the order of the seccessionist group or similar fate will befall them.

He said the economy of the zone would be destroyed should residents adhere to the sit-at-home exercise.

Despite suspending the exercise, most roads and markets in the South-East were under lock and keys in compliance with the civil action the group resorted to aimed at pressurizing the federal government to unconditionally release its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

“I have therefore directed that any civil servant who is absent from work is automatically sacked and those absent in any of our construction sites would also be sacked,” Mr Umahi ordered. “Any shop or stall in Ebonyi that is not open for business will lose its right of occupancy and I want this directive to be widely publicised.”

The governor also condemned IPOB for the incessant killings and beheadings ongoing in the geo-political zone despite denial of involvement from the group.

“No one can wage war in the South-east. Our people, especially the youths should rise and condemn such acts,” he urged. “There is nothing like unknown gunmen as those killing and the ones being killed are citizens of the zone.”
