dfrost: The bill is foolish and any individual who supports it has not read it. It means anyone who operates a website in Nigeria without a government license can be sent to prison for one year or be forced to pay 3 million naira in fines. How does that help protect anyone? 4 Likes |

iamjavadem: This is not regulation. It's purely creating a parallel taxing system. NITDA's focus should be purely positive growth guided by effective policy framework and not revenue generation. They're loosing focus 1 Like 1 Share |

These guys r saying the sector already is overtaxed, and the foolish govt led by the stupid president wants to kill startups with tax so he can channel it for his medical trips. Bunch of thieves! All they do is to tax, tax & more tax. The government should mention one thing they did right to encourage the growth of Tech & ICT in general. They only come for the soup when it's done. Forgetting that before one could make the soup there was a process of getting the ingredients, getting the stove/gas cooker, getting the pot etc. I can see it's another Hausa man heading that unit. A new bill to REPEAL THE NATIONAL INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY ACT, NO. 28 2007 is in the works in the national assembly and the content of the bill indicates that Nigeria is dealing with a real and present pandemic that will eat up the startup ecosystem and impoverish all of us old and young. The name of this diabolic Pandemic is DR. Isa Pantami The Minister for Digital economy. In January this year, I wove this thread on twitter about him. https://twitter.com/wandyvirus/status/1351591448903360516?s=20. I was wrong about his mind. He has a brilliant mind….brilliantly diabolical. Read the rest of the article on medium https://wandyvirus.medium.com/a-digital-minister-with-a-diabolic-mind-ea37b0093fc5 |

EngrXrix:Bros u r not enlightened at all. What these digital loan companies do to defaulters cant be comparable to what normal financial companies do to guarantors of loanees that default in their payment. Those people will come to ur house, abduct u, lock u in their toilet for hours till u Pay back the loan u stood as guarantor for. Are there no regulators regulating these other financial moneylenders? Ofcourse they are. 1 Like |
