Re: 50 Worst Places to Live in the UK England
Before we turn this into an “ethnic cleansing” discussion and begin to play the “race card”, it may be wise to read the entire story (not just the headlines). And also to have some understanding of the methodology used for the polls. Additionally, we need to know the demography of the respondents in the poll.

As far as I could understand from the controversial ranking, the respondents were RESIDENTS of the area - more like self assessment.

No offence meant but "ethnic cleansing " is a specialist term implying genocide. I think the word you want is probably gentrification which you have also used.

Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by DisGuy: 3:43am On Jan 09, 2022
so ethnic cleansing is not the right term for this then, people-irrespective of their ethnicity-with enough capital can still live in these areas that have been gentrified

what is happening in Lekki/Epe/Makoko can be term ethnic cleansing sha

There’s quite a good number of apartments in Gravesend/Dartford that suits your budget (I just checked) Check zoopla again…

The school is university of Westminster and it's on Marylebone road. I've checked Kent, areas like Gravesend, Rochester, Dartford, Maidstone and many more but the prices are just way off. I use Rightmove and Zoopla though. I'd appreciate if anyone can share links to other good sites I can check. Thanks

Hello Everyone, thank you for all the contributions.

I'm a Data Analyst and I work remotely with a firm in UAE. I couldn't move over there due to some constraints.

Now I've gotten an offer with a company in UK (London) and another offer with a company in Channel Islands (Jersey)

Honestly I'm confused and I need your advice to help me make a decision.

The UK offer is £2,650 higher than the other one.

I'm married with 2 children (3 and 1 year olds)

Thanks

Please what tech stacks do you use readers might be interested to learn.

Bolton, Oldham and Leicester are definitely Asian.
Boston is virtually eastern Europe.
I wonder why Leeds, Plymouth and Southampton are on that list..
As for Barking, I would have thought it would be higher, lol.
and I didn't see Birmingham - by reputation alone, it should be there.
Along with Newport in Wales.

No Scottish location on the list, I see.

I thought newport was cool. Plenty bristolians who commute back and forth live there.

Thanks

If I recall correctly, taxes are lower in the Channel Islands so the £2000 difference maybe way more than you think when you take that into account. Please cross check that and don't take it as gospel. But it used to have a reputation as a tax haven

2ndly - cost of living is cheaper on the maninland because Jersey is a tiny island and majority of food and good there are shipped over from mainland England. It's a small place. You can drive round the whole island in one hour. Rents are expensive as well and you really have no choice but take what you find.

It gets very very busy in the summer as it's a tourist hotspot and prices of everything gets raised accordingly in the summer.

I caveat this by saying I haven't been there for about 6 years now. Based on what I know, I'd take a job in London over Jersey and that's saying something cos I can't stand London

Very true.
Jersey, IOW have quite high rents, and unless one really likes the island life, one might as well live in any other overpriced big city.

Yes, lots of priced-out Bristol people live in the Newport-Cardiff area.
I've been to Newport to visit one such person, and unfortunately you don't get a good impression of the place from the train station onwards.

Does anyone know the rules around dependents traveling to the UK before the main applicant?
The dependent (husband) wants to go first to sort out accommodation and the main applicant (wife) will join with the children.

No idea, but when I and my family travelled, I was the one that was thoroughly questioned at the immigration, they didn't pay attention much to my wife and child being my dependants. I suggest you all go together or you go first as the main applicant. You can sort the accommodation then they'll come join you.

By the way can't you people stay together in that place he's planning to stay alone first?

Hi guys,
I have read here about the care sponsorship route but not sure how someone already in the system can get sponsorship via care. I came in last year via student Visa but currently working in a healthcare facility as a support worker. I have already seen online that my Company is on the list of organisations that can offer sponsorship but dont know if I qualify as I cant see specific eligibility requirement. Will appreciate any information on this.

Hello, please can you share the link to where I could find the list of approved organizations. I want to check something.

Thanks

[quote author=Estroller post=109193661]You simply allow the 1 Year anniversary of your LISA account to fall into the following tax year, remember tax year is 6th April - 5th April of the following year, you then deposit the maximum £4k in each of the the tax year.

For example if I'm to open one today 8/01/22, my 1 Year anniversary will be 8/01/23. I will deposit the max £4k before 5th April 2022 covering the current tax year and deposit another £4k in the new tax year starting 6th April 2022 but before the anniversary of my account which is 8/01/23. You both do this, and you will get the £4k I referenced in my earlier post.

Says one must be between 18-39 to be eligible to open a Lisa account??
