You are correct fulani are NOMAD OR Pastorialist who are moving from one place to another looking for grass?
But modern day reality has overtaken that cultural practise which seems to suggest that herders have to adopt modern method of animal husbandry such as ranching.
You can not move to another persons land all because your culture permit you to do such.
That is TRESSPASSING and it is a punishment offence under the law.
Besides it has led to clashes between fulani herders and famers leading to killings of farmers and destruction of property.
That is a serious breach of the peace in the land.

I agree with you about the need to modernize animal rearing away from open grazing for many reasons including the ones you listed.
But people are creating the impression that Fulani herders are there to confiscate and own land perhaps as certified owners, which is not true.
In the past the nomads had country owned land mapped out for them to graze their cattle. Government owned land, not farms or individual privately own lands. This was interpreted as common good , the same as the government build roads for people move with their goods and to travel in conducting their businesses. In those days , cattle tax was paid to the Government per head of cattle.

The impasse about rearing of cattle can be unraveled and dealt with sensibly for the benefit of all, if the goodwill was there. Threatening fire and brimstone by politicians just to impress the masses cannot be the way for progress.

The outright ban on open grazing in specific sections of the country, and without any national plans for herding animals will, rightly or wrongly attract economic retaliations. There is wisdom in discussions and building a consensus.

Southerners should continue to respect people like Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu.

They should stand by them in this difficult moment in our history as a nation.

Nigeria had never been like this but with the coming of Buhari.

These bold guys DRAW THE LINE IN THE SANDs that they are not going to accept DICTATE from the fulani.

Fulani herdsmen who have no ancestral land in the south want to grab LAND AND WATER at their own terms.

BY THE TIME BUHARI finishes his tenure all this will come to an end.

LATE ALHAJI SHEHU SHAGARI AND ALHAJI MUSA YAR'ADUA despite being fulani did not instigate their people against the south and the middlebelt to favour fulani selfish interest.

They rule Nigeria with the fear of God.

But Buhari 's case is different.

He has been having a running battle with governor Ortom over fulani herdsmen killing in Benue state.

Very funny that Anambra and Imo state governors are not interested in passing such laws.

Because it is a senseless law.

And you expected educated illiterates from the south on nairaland to understand that?
I'm even interested in knowing what they will be doing to Fulani herders and their cattle who are going to be caught or arrested when such law is eventually passed. Season film

But they don’t want to face meat embargo. You must look at the repercussions.

And the North May send back the millions of your traders and employees in the North.
You can’t destroy other people’s economy and expect no retaliation.

What rubbish meat embargo?

And for your information they are not banning cow meat, they are only trying to enact a law that controls open grazing..

And even if they decide to ban beef,we HV fish, goat and pork down south.

Millions of traders and employees lol

Same traders and employees that are massacred on a daily in southern kaduna and some parts of jos?

Same traders that their business and lives are threatened with their extremist Sharia laws..

South has nothing to loose with the open grazing ban.

The largest landmass is in the northern part of Nigeria.

The herdsmen should restrict themselves to the core north especially to states they are indigenous to.

The landmass in the south is not so large and with the economic problem in Nigeria many people are taking up farming as a means of livelihood.

Where then is the land to accommodate herders in the south?

Settling fulani herdsmen in Southern Nigeria is unsustainable and dangerous to the peace of the land especially given the killings that Nigeria had witnessed from the fulani herders and farmers clashes.

Northern states governors who are supposed to stand by this herders are keeping silence while they collect federal allocation from the federal government.

If the northern states decides to take some retaliatory step against the south it will be considered a cheap blackmail and like BITING THE FINGER THAT FEEDS YOU.

MY CONCLUSIVE TAKE ON THIS FULANI HERDSMEN IS THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD ENCOURAGE THE HERDERS TO SETTLE IN THEIR STATES OF ORIGIN, THE STATE THEY ARE INDIGENOUS TO.

Assist this herders to settle in their homeland and assist them to develop their cattle business in line with ranching and with respect to the federal government livestock transformation plan.

IT IS WICKEDNESS FOR THE NORTHERN ELITES TO ENCOURAGE THEIR FULANI SONS TO BE ROAMING THE FOREST LAND OF NIGERIA WHILE THEIR ELITE CHILDREN STUDY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM AND TAKE UP BIG FEDERAL GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENT.

The other point is that these "Elected Governors" have no respect for the people that elected them and think once in office, they can do whatever they like, most to better their own pockets.
What Southerners need to do is to "speak the language that these Governors and their family members understand, to them".
As a Governor, you cannot jeopardise the safety and life of my family, just so that you can get Fulani money or be in the good books of Bull-hari or for your Political ambition, l will not accept it, even if you guide yourself with a million, gun-wielding terrorists.

People like Gov Obianno has sold his sold to fulani Herdsmen and does not care about how many Anambarians are slaughtered by the Fulani Terrorist Herdsmen, so why should we care about him or his family members, wherever in the world he is hiding them?
We take the battle to them, even outside of Nigeria.

Buhari want his Fulani tribesmen to remain in nomadic life in 2021 and wandering all over the country.
Other countries are discussing technology, Buhari's main concern is nomadic cattle rearing.

At the bolded.
You Fulanis are a very deceitful people and you always think you are smart,
That your assertion up there is an example and l would prove it.
There is nothing like COUNTRY-OWNED Land, it was only in the North that you have grazing Reserve, nothing like that in the Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria.
Why will even other regions, "reserve their land" for you, who are not even Northern Nigerians till very recently? DOnt forget that Fulanis are not indigenous to Nigeria, you are from Futa Jalon Highlands in Guinea, later spreading to Mali. It was Buhari that imported you terrorists into Nigeria, when he became President.
STOP THE "TAQUIYA" please.

If truly as you said, that all you want is "grass to graze" and not after people's land,
- The North has 78% of all land in Nigeria, are you telling us there is no grass in that 78%, except the 22% left in the South?
- All the people you killed in Benue and other Middle belt States so you can have their "grass", why are their Survivors still in IDP Camps four years after? Why have you not eaten the grass and moved on? Why are you renaming the Villages to Fulani names, if not to grab their land?
- Grazing Settlement is not the same thing as a temporary Pasture, your Patron Buhari that brought all you blood thirsty Bororo terrorists from other West African States said he wants to build Schools, hospitals, etc in those "settlements", does that lok like a temporary place where you will graze your Cows and then leave?
- Cow rearing is a Business. A governor like Othom says he also rears Cows but he has a ranch. Why cant you guys finance your own ranch afteral, the Cows you take around and not free but sold to others? WHy are you parasites using Buhari to still Nayional Wealth for yourself only? Just like other farmers (Poultry, Piggery, Snail, Rabbit, Crops, etec), go to banks and get a LOAN to setup a Ranch for your Cows. SIMPLE. But you prefer to kill people over their land, right?

Moreover, what is yur fantasy about Open grazing, compared to ranching?
All these countries that raise fat Cows and produce serious beef for export, have you seen any of them practicing Open Grazing ? What they do is Ranch thei cattles but because you Fulanis need to use this Open grazing as an excuse to invade Southern lands, you ate still insisting on Open grazing, instead of ranching.

You terrorists have been exposed and seen for what you are. Your deception does not fool any Southerner or Middle belt anymore, except for a few Selfish Governors that the people will deal with by themselves, when the time comes.

There is ONLY ONE Solution to your terrorist "open grazing" activities: STOP IT AND RANCH your Cows

Enacting a Law is the first step to tackling a menace.
You violate the law, you will be treated as a Criminal and jailed. The Cows will be seized and destroyed (or given to charity)
The South will arm itself and the military wont be always there to defend you so, you will be visited with the same violence you are visiting on other now.
As for Buhari, he will spend the rest of his life at an ICC jail in the Hague, for GENOCIDE.
Dont overrate your self, you are cowards who depend on the Nigerian Armed Forces, for cover. using Buhari

We must wedge the minorities and Middlebelt away from the North.
I agree with your first paragraph.

But your last paragraph is no no no for me. Nothing Concern SE with SS and Nc with thier bondage with the north.

It is the SS and Nc that will fight and free themselves from the Bondage of the north.

FG gave the SS 2.5% PIB, yet no representative from SS challenges the bill including their Lawmakers in the NASS. It means they are Ok with the North.

If you are from the south west . Fight your own battle. We in the east will not ally with never ally with any region to free any minorities.

They maintain it because their slaves in the SS has assured them that they will never support the division of Nigeria and Igbo will Conquer them and take over their land and oil incase if Nigeria divides.

You can now see where the problem. Every body should fight their own battle. I don't think the south unity will work. Because SS , SE and SW are still suspicious of each other.

The three region has different ideology. They are not like the north that speak with one voice.

Are you sane at all? Do "their peaceful business" when worldwide we see that what they are doing, i.e open and pastoral grazing of cattle, is outdated, unproductive and socio-economically backwards?

It seems you Northerners are cursed to forever reject progress and forward movement. You guys are suicidal lemmings and "original sufferheads" .

You are Wrong bro you need to read books on war strategy and battle tactics, the North is not united,it's a strategy they are using to make it appear so and if you are asking everyone to fight their individual battle, the Hausa-Fulanis will always win like they have been doing since Azikiwe merged with North in 60s.

Do you notice how they always upper hand in legislative chambers??
How they dismember the Ss that used to be mainly part of SW before Biafra war?
How they cut Kogi, benue and Kwara to North for strength?
Pay more keen interest in any southern vs Northern policies and you will understand.
Read about how the Persian empire was brought down by Greece.
You can't fight a bigger enemy with more arsenal and Tribe men in the key Federal positions without unity of the south, wedging the Middle belt away from Hausa-Fulanis and strategic planning.
