As a business OWNER what salary do you deem fit for a farm manager?

As a farm manager whats the lowest/highest salary you can go for?

NOTE- You are to oversea day2day runing and growth of the farm.

FARM SIZE/TYPE: 50arc, Animals husbandry (goat, cow and pigs, aqua culture, vegetable.
very stupid question this is the decision the farm owner should make by himself after proper evaluation. This is not a question you ask the general public na them get farm?.

Salary is dependent on the output from the farm and what the manager is bringing to the table.
If the manager is only coming to supervise and go home then he will definitely get less than if he facilitates and bring business in.

I can take not less than 50k with other incentives.

You belittle yourself to accept 50K Salary in this present economy, remember that you will rent house and do other side out the farm.

Pls raise your game.

I've worked as a manager in a farm less than an acre in size with a maximum of 2,000 birds, 100k fish, 40 and 5 female and male pigs respectively which birth at least 100 piglets monthly, and small size vegetable farm.

Trust me it wasn't easy, the pigs needs constant treatment especially the piglets and their mom. The fish if not properly taken care of will incurr great loss (though I'm an Aquaculture specialist by profession). What about the birds? Proper and adequate vaccination or else (you should know).

I have a schedule for treatment and vaccination of all animals. I inject the pigs myself, applied both prophylactic and therapeutic treatment on all animals myself, and other stuff I did. It was not really easy.

I was paid 200k as basic salary up till 2016..

Op, though I love farming ( a born farmer) but I must say that there are lots of work in a farm.

I can't actually say how much I would get as monthly pay from your question. I have to see the farm first before I'll decide.

For those mentioning less than 250k, una be thief. Only a thief can charge less than 250k to manage a farm of such landmass.

Please Was it Profitable and in which order were the animals most Profitable

Limited land Agriculture is very interesting and has great future Potential

Some Farmers can make more Profits from 1 acre of Land than Someone on 20 Acres of Land

I suspect the fish were the most difficult to manage

Have you set up your own farm yet ?

Personally I think that 2 years in such a farm will give anyone the experience to set up his own Farm successfully

A farm manager is like an MD of a company in cooperate system. if he has experience of at least 5 years the minimum should be around 250k plus incentive with accommodation on the condition that he sleeps on the farm at least 2-3 times a week. This is a sensitive job, pay him below that and your investment won't stand for long. Issues like missing funds, animals , stock will come into play. You should employ someone with a high level of integrity and experience (look for reference if possible). Many farms don't last because staffs watch millions go out and they are paid peanuts. You should also learn to pay surprise or occasional visits to put staffs on their toes (especially at early hours or late night ).

Farm work is not easy.

With the rise in cost of food, meat, dollar, transportation, tax, rent...etc. Anything less than 250k should be seen as under payment.

This I have seen.
250k, so easy to say as if the farm makes that much. Where will they get the money to pay him?
