Between Simon Ekpa and the DOS : A call to prioritizing TACT in the Igbosphere.


There is something many proponents of Biafra will not like to hear but must be said. The current imbroglio between the DOS and Maazi Simon Ekpa that has continued to deteriorate, was caused by no other person than Maazi Nnamdi Kanu himself. Once Maazi Nnamdi Kanu "imposed" or "cherrypicked" Simon Ekpa to broadcast on Radio Biafra there was bound to be clashes of interests. In every standard organization there are always codes of conduct and proper channels of communication/decision taking. Failure to respect this code of conduct will create opportunities for insubordination and disorderliness. And this is where the issue emanated from.

In the case of Simon Ekpa what should have been done is for Sir Nnamdi Kanu to RECOMMEND (emphasis on this) Maazi Simon Ekpa to @real_IpobDOS as a presenter on Radio Biafra whilst bringing to Ekpa's attention that he must kowtow to the laid down rules of the organization. Thereby ensuring that from the get go the ranks are kept in order. Failure to do this and instead communicating with and "imposing" or "cherry picking" a scion on a standard organization was always going to be tricky.

Asides this, overlooking the @real_IpobDOS in this sensitive decision indirectly makes them look inept and untrustworthy before the people. Hence creating doubts amongst the followers in the loyalties and dependability of a DOS you set up yourself. Also you inadvertently divide the followers as a section may insist on siding with Maazi Simon Ekpa and the other for the DOS, which is in blunt terms, a tactless move, antithetical to the struggle and highly unnecessary because both are actually on the same side and are trying to achieve the same thing.

Also there was incidences of family members of Maazi Nnamdi Kanu undermining the IPOB leadership by giving out directives. This they later backtracked on and apologized for, which is highly commendable. Going forward all sides must be able to find common ground and forge ahead together. Also, communication & decision making MUST continue to go through the proper laid down channels at the DOS level, so as to ensure efficiency and unity of purpose. Thank you.
