First to understand this topic, we need to know the meaning of poverty? Poverty is the state of being extremely poor. Nigeria has millions of families are living in abject poverty.

According to World Bank Databank,

This shows poverty is indeed a sad economic reality in Nigeria

Poverty is the result of bad Economic policies and poor decision making, some times on the part of the citizens and most times on the part of the government. But then again who constitute the government but people.

The resultant effects of poverty apart from death is high increase in crime rate. Poverty and increase is Crime walk like Siamese Twins.
Nigerians have a parlance "bread and butter", we can use Poverty and Crime within this perfect descriptive concept.

To reduce crime in our society, poverty should be suppressed and annihilated. Tackling crime without dealing with poverty efficiently is a waste of time.
