A popular Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, on Monday reiterated the need to grant bandits amnesty, Newspremises reports.

Gumi said bandits are going nowhere until the Nigerian Government grants them amnesty like it did to the Niger Delta militants.

The cleric, who has access to bandits, disclosed this in a post on his Facebook page entitled: ‘Zamfara: The Flaring Of Crisis.’

Gumi warned that military action against armed herders would worsen the insecurity situation rather than solve it.

Citing the incident in Afghanistan, the Kaduna-based scholar insisted that no military, especially of a poor economy, can win guerrilla warfare.

The statement reads partly: “By 2015, banditry has replaced cattle rearing that is becoming nearly impossible. Drugs were introduced into the herdsmen that are known to be illiterates or semi-illiterates.

“Just as we had the Niger Delta conflict resolved with an amnesty which comes with reconciliation, reparation, and rehabilitation packages, so will the herdsmen crisis be resolved. In fact, there is a need for a Marshal plan to educate the nomadic pastoralist so that no citizen is left behind.

“No military, especially of a poor economy, can win guerrilla warfare. The recent victory of the Taliban in Afghanistan is a factual warning for those that contemplate.”

Recently, Gumi had called on the Nigerian Government to grant bandits blanket amnesty.

What's this old fool saying? The Niger delta militants were justified for carrying arms because their region was decimated by oil spillage while making their land a toxic-waste center . funny thing is they are already been given amensty called ransom

Government send helicopters to them in forests

Government arm them

Government prevent military or police from disturbing them

I don't know what other amensty they need when they are yet to reciprocate with good behavior

So this was the plan all along? Create a militant group, arm them, allow them kill as long as they can and then call them and grant them amnesty" with government funds ofcourse. The North seem to think that the Niger Delta militants activities were uncalled for. They seem to believe that it was a ruse created by the militants to steal money. They don't seem to understand that the monies in question are from the oil communities. The North behaves as if they're the owners of the oil and are upset to share the money from oil with someone "Niger Delta infidels"..

First , they created the equivalent of the Niger Delta commission for the North East. Then they started granting spurious amnesty to even Boko Haram fighters because the same happened to Niger Delta fighters. Now they're going to monetize the whole process for the Fulani herders too. This is an indirect way of looting the finances of a country through all sorts of spurious excuses.. Add to the exploding debt profile, the next incoming government might just be saddled with the sole responsibility of sharing money to all sorts of ethnic schemes crested by Jubril Al-Disaster and his evil cohorts, without much left to work..

Because your resources were like that off Niger Delta people right. They should have fought for resources control instead 10%.

This was their plan all along. If any attempt is made to give these northern leeches any amnesty and pay them like the Niger Delta militants, the militants must not agree to that plan. Just bomb all the oil pipelines let them use proceeds from cow sales to pay Fulani bandits amnesty.
