Even at that the north is still ravaged with lack, how do you explain the almajiri system and also the thousands of beggars littered all over southern states. If VAT is exclusive to the states then the matter becomes worse.

Guy, that Almajiri issue is beyond economic matters, it has been intertwined with religion, that's why it's difficult to fight it. Many leaders have tried in futility to stop it, because once you start, the religious leaders will start calling you that you want to stop people from embarking on "knowledge tourism" .

If the Executive (FG) and legislative arm of government are not going to entertain the idea of restructuring, the judiciary will help us restructure this goddamn country...

It's about time...

Federal government has too much powers

It's bad

Imagine every part of the country been at the mercy for the fG for funds everytime

It's bad!

Unfortunately, it's only going to get worse . . . 55% of the VAT comes from just one state - Lagos. I really like the direction on VAT, but its going to be very painful in the short term for most states of the federation.

Unjust hatred for people will consume you. We see the obvious in the very hilarious VAT battle that is happening. I just dey observe.
Many supported Governor Wike's decision to be collecting VAT because they say "the North contributes nothing and they want to be collecting". But if they know their facts they will understand that they are digging a hole for themselves. They will realize it is all of us that will suffer when States collect VAT.
First of all, after Lagos, the next place that contributes the highest VAT (20%) is the FCT which is in the North. Yes this is followed by Rivers at 6% but Kano is next with 5% and this is followed by Kaduna. So no, it is not as you have been misinformed. The only special case is Lagos. So your State will suffer. Even Lagos will suffer with much more people migrating there. When resources are shared among Federating Units, it is shallow to always think it is injustice. Give Lagos 100% of it's VAT, Mukaila from Sokoto, Chinedu from Aba and even Lasisi from Osun will all migrate there. So what is the point again?
Secondly, in the federal system, companies with less than 25 million were not VATable. You think you are doing Northerners but your company will become VATable once Wike's law is replicated in your State. Why do you think commercially massive States like Abia and Anambra do not top the list of VAT contributors? Because those boys in the market were not exactly VATable, wait until what you are blindly supporting takes effect. VAT will be collected like motor park tickets. Then you will see where hate has led you.
Third, people will most likely pay VAT twice across different states with different laws because Wike does not know what is input and output VAT and did not listen to Nojeem Olasubomi Yusuf and others who politely asked him about it.
Some have even termed Wike the leader of restructuring in Nigeria. A gullible people in search of heroes. Being used and misled by every opportunist. Stop allowing yourself to be used by politicians to settle their personal scores while they tell you they are fighting for your interest.
You need to first know what your interest is to know who is actually fighting for or against it
Let all the southerners and their businesses especially the Ibos leave Abuja and then lets see how much your precious Abuja will generate. 99% of the manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, banks, car assembly, spare parts manufacturing, schools, fishing, oil & gas are done in the South. You are here calling Kano, Kaduna (mostly in Kaduna Christian South) and Abuja. That is all you have! You Northerners have ruled Nigeria for more years than the South and you have nothing to show for it. If you think we Southerners will allow Northerners to migrate en-masse to the South because of hunger then you are deceiving yourself. We will never allow that rubbish. You mistake Southern tolerance of Northern rubbish for weakness. That will be your peril. Be there deluding yourself aboki.

Very good. All the States should collect their own taxes and leave FGN alone. Let everybody go and work.

Also FGN should suspend all projects and interventions in the states. Since they now generate their own income.

We are getting to true federalism small small grin

Before federal government can suspend all it's project responsibilities to the states, it has to first remove it's hands from all resources of the states and allow the states to only pay royalty fees from the proceeds of their resources to the federal government, otherwise they cannot suspend their project responsibilities to the states.
You cannot come to a state and hijack it's resources and still tell them you owe them no obligations.

The North is far bigger in land mass & population than the South.
It has the highest number of states & local governments.
The North has some of the most powerful governors, senators, federal appointees, politicians both serving & retired in Nigeria.
The North also has the richest men & biggest captains of industry in Nigeria.
It has the highest number of military Generals both serving & retired.
The North equally has its fair share of reknown & accomplished academics in Nigeria & abroad in foreign universities.
It has reknown religious scholars & fiery clerics as well as its fair share of unrepentant religious fundamentalists, radicals, hoodlums, criminals & terrorists.
Inspite of all these, watch that whatever positions are zoned to them come 2023, they will choose, present & support their candidate seamlessly with less or no friction, rancour, dirty fight in public or the pages of newspapers & without assassinating each other. They understand politics & leadership. It's no coincidence therefore, that they have what they have. Islam is what regulates them and make them peaceful and never care to address the dirty lies, slander and insults from southerners online.
But you see this presidency of Nigeria Southerners are threatening everybody that they must have come 2023;
this 2023 presidency useless Southern governors & politicians are galivanting up & down insisting they must have -- governors & politicians whose only idea of governance is to issue press statements every month on Fulani herdsmen, cattle grazing & 2023 presidency to distract their gullible state citizens from the resources & allocations of their states they have stolen with nothing to show for it;
you will see how these Southern governors & greedy power drunk Southern politicians will kill & destroy each other just to pick & present one presidential candidate.
Watch how they will burn down the South with insecurity on the eve of 2023 as all these militias, unknown gunmen, Amotekun, Ebube Agu, ESN, OPC, Cult gangs, the various states police & vigilantes in the South will get new sponsors in these Southern governors & politicians as well as new sophisticated weapons from them as they jostle to eliminate each other & weaken the political base of their opponents to be able to pick the presidential ticket for themselves.
The sad shame however is that after destroying themselves, The Southern homeland, wasting the resources of Southern states & the lives of Southern misguided youths just to pick a presidential ticket, they will still turn back & blame the North for the destruction their unbridled greed for power for selfish ends brought on the South.
You see this Southern presidential agitations...

You have big land, more politicians, more people in the military, Where has it gotten the North today?

99% of the wealthy Northern elites got their wealth through juicy Federal government patronage as a result of Northern tribalism in the Federal government or through corruption by public treasury looting. Most of the accomplished Nigerians today in the fields of science and technology especially those abroad are of Southern origins. Most of the Northerner appointed to lead Federal parastatals are vastly unqualified and that is why Nigeria is $hit today.

Goodluck Jonathan a Southerner gave 180 Naira to 1 US dollar to Buhari and in 6 years, it is now over 500 naira to 1 US dollar. Be here talking big useless grammar, you fool no one but yourself.

If Southern Nigeria had gone its way in 1960 at Independence, we will be light years ahead of you lot in the North, even Chad and Niger Republic will be better off than you jokers in the North, cos you people are lazy, dont want to go to school, contribute little to zero to the common wealth collective of Nigeria and at the same time you greedy clowns expect to benefit the most. You break beer bottles in Kano but yet want to collect VAT on Southern alcohol consumption. People that JAMB have to reduce cut-off mark to 10 for university admission, you are here talking rubbish. Because you Northerners expect the South to swallow your excesses forever. The joke is on you.

Good one.
Also, let every state control its mineral resources.
Niger Delta should control its oil and gas, export for FOREX and remit to FG what is due it. North should control its agricultural products. Sell to any country of choice and generate FOREX and remit to FG the percentage due to it. Same as other regions with mineral resources.
If you think that you have to move your businesses to your region/state so as to help increase your state's IGR, please do.
After 5 years, let's talk and see how far. Let's see who will make shakara.
No time for laziness.
Every region is blessed with one natural/mineral resource or the other.

I wonder how the north will survive this onslaught, the south survived the herdsmen madness but will the north remain the same after this? Problem is they will start migrating south when hunger starts ravaging them.
That will be a big problem, we'll have too much refugees in the south.
We need to separate this country and deport the northerners back to the north.

The rate of crimes in the EAST is too much. No wonder, IGBOS Dey relocate to the North in their thousands daily. They go to the North in search of greener pastures. They need good economy to do their business, they also need security to have peace of mind. They can only get these in the North.

My neighbour here in Owerri relocate with his family to the North yesterday. .

Lets discuss the reason why you are even opening your mouth to speaks against the North

PRESIDENT OLUSEGUN OBASANJO (OBJ) TREATMENT & COMING 2023

In the whole 8years of OBJ's administration he did not see a single Hausa/Fulani northerner worthy of appointment as Service Chief, IGP or DG (DSS). Victor Malu, Martin Luther Agwai, Jonah Wuyep, Luka Yusuf, Ibrahim Ogehi, then IGP Tafa Balogun, Musliu Smith, Sunday Ehindero, Mike Okiro up to the DG (DSS) Col. Aare (rtd), were his selected appointees to oversee our security architecture.

Where appointments were to be made from Kano or Sokoto (whole seat of Chaliphate) he would look for the Adamu Baikis, the Solomon Matankaris who are indegenous Christians of the area. If Hausas/Fulanis complained, Obj’s response was, “all the appointees were your people, brothers from the North”. Of course they were; he even used sme tactics to play a very dangerous divide and rule politics with northerners; his arrow - headmen, Jerry Gana & Solomon Lar were part and parcel of the Villa cabals, members of his kitchen cabinet who determined most appointment made by the government Agencies. Google all the very sensitive position then, there was no single Hausa or Fulani there. CBN, Joseph Sanusi later Soludo. Custom Buba Gyan, NNPC Edmund Dakoru, to mention just a few.

Never forget that OBJ flushed out more than 500 soldiers of Northern extraction, from the ranks of Major and above, who held political appointments during the past military administrations, including orderlies and ADCs. Those who survived his hammer, like Bamalli Nuhu were assembled and bombed in the mountainous region; between Benue and Cross River States.

Obasanjo’s civil service reform were mainly targeted at northerners who mostly, (80%) became victims; from NEPA,Maritime, NPA and Aviation etc. Northerners were major casualties. Similarly all the replacements that followed were from his kiths and kins, and his god sons.

Prior to 1999, more than 15 international airlines operate or had their routes to Kano, but Obasanjo made sure he decimated that to only 3 before he left. Very very fresh in our memories is how he stylishly killed all the Northern textiles, groundnuts and cotton pyramids as well as many other agronomic economies; particularly the poultry using the hoax claim of “birds flu” conspiracy that obliterated all major players in the sector, from northern region. He also deliberately opened our boarders for the importation of all kinds of agricultural goods, which tactically killed virtually all local industries in Kano, Kaduna, Gusau to mention just a few. He stated and ensured DIC and Peugeot and Steyr plants became comatose.virtually all critical northern enterprises were put out of business with deadly attendant consequences.

For example, in Kano alone there were more than 5000 factories / industries located in Challawa, Bompai and Sharada industrial estates. Before Obj’s tenure ended he made sure 80% of those factories folded up, and the remaining 20% were operating at half level, below minimal capacities due to his well designed, well executed, skewed economic policies.

Remember the housing, monetization and privatisation policies he used our people to execute? This program was conceptualised and well executed to basically empower his kiths and Kins to owned choice properties in Abuja and Lagos. The privatisation was used to catapult cronies and surrogates, as well as God sons, into multi-billionaires. People like Mike Adenuga, Fola Adeola, Jimoh Ibrahim, Jim Ovia, Chris and the Andy Ubahs, to mention just a few.

Most of these people were, prior to 1999, using night buses to & fro Lagos/Abuja. Incidentally within a span of short period, all were flying private jets, while the country, North in particular was rapidly sliding backwards. One can continue on and on; why the north and northerners tolerated all that, only God knows.

The current clamor for self determination by some states from previous regions are nothing but blackmails that, to me, are dead on arrival. Rather than experiencing the Obj treatment again, it suffices if every single region go its separate way. The north can not afford to make the 1999 blunder again. Democracy is a game of numbers; anybody who thinks he/she is competent to lead us should come out and contest. The north is not ready to concede to any blackmail.

This is not new. All these taxes on farmers by ISWAP and Bokoharam are been passed down to Southern consumers. It is the south who is actually paying for every penny the farmers pay to the terrorists.

The south would simply retaliate by setting up agricultural facilities to mass produce food. With herdsmen palava gone, this shouldn't take more than a year or two. Southern states can also set up branding scheme so people know where the food they buy come from. When the people start to boycott food coming from the north, the north will call for a good structure. Or when food from the north become more expensive as a result of tax on agricultural product by the north we simply eat ours.
