As long as each states utilize the VAT for the development and progress on their people.
As long as it won't end in the foreign accounts of politicians in the states.

Making the center financially weak could expedite the journey towards true federalism

I wonder how the north will survive this onslaught, the south survived the herdsmen madness but will the north remain the same after this? Problem is they will start migrating south when hunger starts ravaging them.

Was there any history of North to South migration or hunger in the North before the discovery of oil? When it comes to food, North is self sufficient, but we know the direction of movement of food in the Country, and it's definitely North to South and not the opposite.

The only challenge now is the state governments. They will still screw the masses over as usual.
The state governments are the reason we no longer have any functional local government.

pacino26:
The 1999 constitution is a basket. If politicians always find loopholes to get away from justice maybe it's time the masses through their attorney generals exploit same loopholes to benefit the people.

I like this phase of judioeconomic war going on.

Wike you did good.

If the Northerners are smart they will retaliate and start adding VAT to livestock and agriculture products like peppers, onions that are produced in the North and consume in the South.

Yet the North is the poverty capital of the nation...if you have more than enough, why the northern children littered everywhere in the North begging for food?

When we have true fiscal federalism installed in Nigeria, Kano sharia police will hawk beer and ogogoro on the street.

All locally generated taxes should be collected and used by the States.

Even at that the north is still ravaged with lack, how do you explain the almajiri system and also the thousands of beggars littered all over southern states. If VAT is exclusive to the states then the matter becomes worse.

My brother that one no be case. As it stands now, state governments use Abuja as excuse for almost everything. If the powers at the center is whittled down, a replica of what is playing now will still take place.

The powers of a governor will be just enough to keep the state territory, economic powers will be vested in the Council chairmen and Administrators on whose locality most of these businesses operate.

In the end, everyone needs to attract investment, provide infrastructures and security.

it is good, now the indigenes of the states will face the governors. It will be difficult for a governor to cover up many things.

THANKS TO MAZI NNAMDI KANU, ALL THE COWARDS ARE GETTING BOLDER EVERY DAY.

Referring to others as "cowards" is how your misguided movement lost the massive support from outsiders, that it once had.

Nowadays people really don't care about Kanu's fate anymore, unlike in the past

Wetin concern VAT with cownu?
We talking of VAT for sane, honest and hardworking Nigerians, you are talking about a killer!
May devil punish the murderer for all the crimes and atrocities he has committed in this nation.
All the souls of the innocent girls and men he killed will haunt him till death.
Leave him out of responsible threads and let people read good comment next time biafintel.... okay?

U dey mind dat one?

Did you scream on the devil to haunt all the terrorists, kidnappers and killers plaguing innocent people in the North especially those killing the Berom Christian indigenes of Plateau State? You are just a complete re-tard. Don't worry, this joke called Nigeria will soon end.

Instead of you Northerners to invest in schools, universities, technical colleges and technical acquistion centres so your jobless youths can gain skills and a lot of things can start being manufactured in the North so North can reap more IGR from VAT etc, your political leaders will instead be building more and more mosques and almajiri Islamic schools. Your own is to come online to Nairaland and be deceiving yourself. Mu-mu.

Why do you think Uzodimma brought PMB to Imo? It's all show of force! Imolites can't wait to have the next election and vote him out. So a simple instruction to the commander in Obinze keeps people in line since it came from the CinC while Hope rides around town.

A day will come when soldiers will revert to their original mandate and the state police will be under sole control of the State House of Assembly and Security Council.

As in Guinea, take off the soldiers and politicians return to mere mortals.

One day at a time. For now let's work on loopholes in the 1999 constitution and get things to work down South.
