What does your contract with them say? Remember you are still on proba3and if for any reason you are asked to leave, they owe you nothing. The same measure should be applicable to them since you are not a confirmed staff. Shine your eyes o and play according to the rules of your engagement with them. |

Bornsinner7:It depends on what the employment letter says but my concern is that most at times when the table turn around, they don't give that notice before they sack the employee. Unfortunately many Nigerians just walk away without making case with the employer on such occasion thereby encouraging other employer to do the same. Ordinarily, either of the parties who wish to terminate the employer-employee contract is expected to give one month notice ahead, otherwise, the one who terminate the contract should pay the other one month salary, this is aside other benefits or liability as stated in the appointment letter or according to events that leads to the termination of the contract |

There are things you need to add for us to advice you better.
* What lead to your exiting from your former place of work?
*Is the issue/s now resolved that worth your thought of going back.
*How is the pay compare to your current job.
* Comparing the two, where to do you feel more at ease working? |

Should your present Organisation sack you immediately without notice...How will you feel What will you do The same way you will ask for severance package if that happens, is the same way they are entitled to your one month gross salary in lieu of notice |
Re: Sudden Recall From Former Organisation by redcliff: 3:49pm On Sep 13, 2021 |
Alajiki: There is a contract. Based on that contract there is a notice period to terminate. what ever the organization wants from you for not fulfiling that agreement is their right. |
Re: Sudden Recall From Former Organisation by Olumaeme: 3:50pm On Sep 13, 2021 |
Give them 24hrs notice and resign. According to the labour law, until you have worked for at least 5 years before you give 1 month notice. Also, since you are yet to be confirmed, 24hrs is fine. I advice you read through your contract and staff handbook to see what it states. |

If you have not been confirmed by your present employer, then you can walk away at will, am sure your employment is still temporal... Except you sign any document or agreement that says otherwise |

I don't see this a good news. How can my ex-organisation re-call me then I smell a rat no matter how good the pay is, for me it's very dangerous. I remembered when I was resigning from my old place 9 days to my last day. I was called and told, we will add something to your salary. My response was simple "I appreciate that Sir, but I have gone beyond that now. OP my advise to your scanty post is simple. If your former place is a financial institution or you worked in accounts or any sensitive position, better remain where u are, it's too suspicious. 1 Like |

This is not a difficult issue What does your contract or employee regulation of your current organization say about disengagement? Usually, while you are still on probation (not confirmed), sometimes, you may be required to give from 24hrs to 1week notice... So read that clause and act accordingly. Whatever it is, inform your 'former organization'. They are supposed to understand. No need to get messy or burn bridges. You can have a win-win situation here... |
Re: Sudden Recall From Former Organisation by RedBororo(m): 3:57pm On Sep 13, 2021 |
What does your employment letter state, with your current organization, if nothing is stated there you could be fair enough to give them two weeks notice since you have not been confirmed, if they refuse and your letter didn’t say anything about notice or payment before disengagement, my guy just walker, even from the start you should not allow people know where u are going to, Thanks |

If your former work sacked you, they can sack you again once they have finished using you. If you resigned from your former work, why? Have your reasons for resigning improved there? Think well 1 Like |
Re: Sudden Recall From Former Organisation by VAGMarie08(f): 4:23pm On Sep 13, 2021 |
You are not expected to pay them or even give a prior notice of resignation because you are still under probation. It is the Same way an organisation can terminate the employment of an employee without prior notice during probationary period... and this is also applicable to the employee. This is According to the Nigerian Labour Act.. 1 Like |

Most employers don't operate that way especially in Nigeria. Has he not been receiving salary? And if he was laid off would he not accept one month salary if it was offered? Another thing you should understand is they cannot find a replacement to cover for him for the remaining days of the month. Since he couldn't tell his former employer that he needs at least 2 weeks notice then he is automatically telling his present employer he doesn't care about them or their job because he would rather go back to where he came from even though he was fired. They only want to make it difficult for him to leave anyway. In Dubai when you accept a job offer you sign an employment contract that says you cannot leave until after 6 months. That is the general practice. Alajiki: |
