Not less than 240 inmates have escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kabba, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State after gunmen invaded the facility in the late hours of Sunday.

The gunmen also reportedly killed soldiers policing the road that leads to the Custodial Centre, making the inmates escape from federal lockup.

In a communique issued on Monday, the Spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Mr. Francis Enobore, confirmed the incident stating that the attackers in their numbers arrived at the Centre heavily armed and immediately engaged the guards in
a fierce gun battle.
