SCHOOL vs. LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
By Olaniyi Olajide
#Edubeta

Today, it is routine for a bank founded in Lagos, Nigeria, to raise capital in Berlin by issuing Eurobonds and using those $ investments to buy ATMs with software designed in Chicago, built in China, and transported on a ship owned by the Chicago Pension fund, licensed in Portugal and captained by a Lebanese crew.

If you walk to your fridge in Ibadan and open it, chances are you will find products from Coca Cola of America; if you just arrive from work and just feel like going straight to bed, the foam you jump on, chances are that its raw materials were imported from Asia. Your iPhone was made in Vietnam, your TV is from Japan and your wallet has a Mastercard from the United State. Look around you, it is evident that you are a global consumer of products and services.

The world is truly a global village and the same applies to the classroom. Schools in London can now accept students from outside the shores of their country (distance learning), all thanks to digital education. We are now in a world where the global classroom is no more news – further thanks to the pandemic.

As a school owner, how are you making use of technology to foster your school growth? Are you reaching digitally those you cannot reach physically?
A learning management system is an online hub that is used to engage students outside the physical classroom. With a LMS in place, schools will be able to engage their students from anywhere they may be, provide academic content, assign homework, mark and publish results online.

The world now operates a hybrid learning process where students are not left alone to wander digitally for knowledge when they are out of the physical reach of their school. LMS allows the school to be with their students online guiding them to various learning discoveries.
