The Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju has kicked against the appointment of Senator Ifeanyi Ararume as the chairman of Board, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.


The activist in a statement described Ararume’s appointment as a travesty.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who serves as the Minister of Petroleum Resources, had approved the appointment of Ararume as chairman of board of the newly incorporated Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

Adeyanju, while reacting to the appointment of Ararume as chairman of Board said, “The All Progressives Congress, APC we believe has more qualified technocrats and well experienced players in the oil and Gas industry as members that could have been appointed as the chairman of Board of the country’s mainstay source of revenue”.

“The Nigeria’s oil and gas sector represents about 65% of government revenues and such sensitive sector ought to be superintended by a competent person who has the requisite knowledge and experience of the industry instead of appointing Ararume whose only major achievements is being a Senator and managing a supermarket.


“Ordinarily, after the incorporation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited as a business entity, one would have thought that the president would appoint a business oriented technocrat with a vast knowledge in oil and gas to pilot the affairs of the company but alas, the rudderless government of President Muhammadu Buhari’s led Federal government opted for a politician with zero experience in oil and Gas industry.

“The appointment of Ararume whom former president Olusegun Obasanjo in 2011 described as the “Big Thief” has brought to the fore, President Muhammadu Buhari’s penchant for outlandish and unconventional methods of appointing cronies and men of questionable characters.

“We call on the President to as a matter of urgency, reverse the appointment of Senator Ararume as chairman of Board, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited as it goes against reason and logic,” he added.

Everybody in Imo State knows that Ararume is a corrupt thug in the mould of Uzodinmma. Imo people know he's unprincipled. Buhari likes recruiting thieves to work with him while claiming he is fighting corruption..The fact that Buhari can only function with things and crooks from Eastern Nigeria shows you how vike and corrupt his soul is..

Buhari must really like that ugly thief because he once appointed Ararume into the NCC board before he quit the position to contest for gubernatorial election.

I guess he made a lot of sacrifices during his election. Buhari just keeps rewarding his stooges at the detriment of the country. I don't see Buhari replacing him though.

However, if Buhari has to replace Ararume, it has to be someone from the South East for fairness. Ifeanyi Ararume should quit active politics because he has a bad reputation.

That's right

The chairman of the board is not involved in the day to day administration of the company so he doesn’t have to be a technocrat or whatever. He’s simply to preside over board meeting where policy issues will be discussed. As a former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he’s competent enough to preside over the board of any public or private company. Adeyanju and those sponsoring him to discredit Ararume should shut the fvck up.

When I see Ararume's CV then I can take a decision on this because Adeyanju who was once indicted for murder is not a trustworthy character to take his words as gospel truth.
