The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the right to 14-day paternity leave for male Federal civil servants to allow them to bond with their infants.

This was disclosed to State House Correspondents on Wednesday by the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, after the week’s virtual FEC meeting presided over by Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

She said this is to enable for proper bonding between the father and a newborn, either natural-born or adopted, especially at the early stages of the child’s life.

Mrs. Yemi -Esan further explained that fathers of adopted babies of less than four months will also enjoy this gesture.

Wow!! That's commendable. Nigerian fathers are superb! They are the ones who will leave office for the maternity ward to stand by their wives in labour and sleep there to go home, freshen up and return to work to get back home and immediately start preparing for the naming ceremony due in 7 days from the day the baby/babies arrived.

With a heart full with gratitude, you officially become the full time errands boy in the house o and keep receiving instructions to buy this and buy that on your way home for at least 6 months! cheesy This is the joy of fatherhood you will miss if you decide to be a dead beat father or baby daddy.

Thumbs up to all the amazing and loving new Dads out there.
You just got a breather!
Thank you FG.
May God bless Nigeria.

If this is what is prioritized and discussed at a Federal Executive Council meeting, then it's no surprise the country is the way it is, rudderless !

Men need economy to work to take care of their families more than they need paternity leave.

This means in the a Northern male civil servant with four wives would go on paternity leave every year or in some case cases two times in a year. grin
