The European football governing body UEFA has reacted after Portugal national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo netted an injury time goal, in Manchester United football club's 2-1 comeback victory over Villarreal football club of Spain.


The former Sporting Lisbon football club star was given a starting role by coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and he was able to play a vital role in the team's victory.



The 36 years old led the Red Devils attack alongside former Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho and England star Mason Greenwood, and he was able to outshine his mates on the pitch.



After playing out a goalless draw in the first half of the game, Spain striker Paco Alcacer opened scoring for Villarreal football club in the 53rd minutes through an assist from Arnaut Danjuma.

Former FC Porto defender Alex Telles equalized for the Red Devils in the 60th minutes, before Cristiano Ronaldo netted the winner in the 90+5 minutes to end the match 2-1.


Reacting after Cristiano Ronaldo netted an injury time winner in Manchester United comeback victory, UEFA posted on their verified Twitter handle that;

"� Cristiano Ronaldo wins it for Manchester United in his first Champions League game at Old Trafford since his return! �."
