Insecurity: Jonathan suggests solutions, backs e-transmission of election results

Published on September 29, 2021
By Wale Odunsi

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians to collaborate in securing the country against terrorists and bandits.

Jonathan delivered a lecture at the inauguration ceremony of National Defence College (NDC) Course 30, in Abuja on Wednesday.

He insisted security is the business of every citizen and must not be left in the hands of the government.

The ex-Bayelsa Governor lamented that people no longer go to farms and some other places because of fear.

“Everybody should be involved in securing the country. Yes, the government will do its part but we as individuals should also do our own part.

“My humble suggestion is that government and stakeholders should do a lot of dialogue. When you start talking, it reduces the anger in people.”

Jonathan declared support for e-transmission of results and advised Nigerians to have confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Where there is no confidence in the electoral umpire, people resort to crisis. But unfortunately, when the result come out, the damage would have been done.

“I urge the National Assembly while looking at the law, to allow the use of electronic means of transmitting results for the sake of transparency”, he appealed.

Everybody should be involved in securing the country. Yes, the government will do its part but we as individuals should also do our own part.
We urge Citizens to report to the military, anybody bearing firearm who is not a Security or Vigilante personnel, so they can deal with this monster, once and for all.
Call 07039194332 or approach any Security deployment if you have any information.
As the Americans say, IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.

Peace shall reign in our nation whether the evil ones like it or not.
The blood , deaths, sorrow and murder they so much crave for will be their portion in life.
We Rise.

I think APC is paying the unknown gunmen to kill their people. Why defection to APC at this time of heat when everyone thinks the most deadly group in the region is against APC.

Good morning naptu2.

Sometimes, when one is outside the playing field, he sees EVERYTHING. Typical case of GEJ.

Tons of paper presentations on security and strategy, yet there is no comprehensive security policy framework that has been able to curtail the menaces that are fast turning Nigeria into Afghanistan in the Sub-Sahara (AISS)
