theTranscriber: Colonel Dominic Oneya, an Urhobo man, was governor of Kano State from 1996-1998. Commodore Ndubuisi Kanu, an Igbo man, was governor of Lagos State from 1977 till 1978. He was succeeded by another Igbo man, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe. Commander Adekunle Lawal, a Yoruba man, was governor of Imo State from 1977-1978. He was succeeded by another Yoruba man, Colonel Sunday Adenihun. That was how governors were appointed during the military era.
