The sun is not a fire like its erroneously portrayed, but rather plasma that glows as huge balls of gas, with nuclear fusion happening at its core. Fusing hydrogen into helium.

when you realise all the oceans on earth cannot extinguish the Sun and no one in this present day reality would imagine what would happen if a giant bucket of water is poured on the Sun, you'd automatically know it's way beyond stone age thinking. It's suicidal thought and not only Earth will cease to exist.

It's a legit question. Its because he didn't use big words that's why you think it's stone age thinking. If he had said it this way:
" Would a container the same volume as the Sun containing fluid with a specific Heat capacity of 4600/K be able to extinguish it??"
Would you have labeled it stone age thinking??

From my layman's point of view, water of that volume hitting a something as large and hot as the sun will cause a massive explosion-like reaction of such magnitude that our solar system will be destabilazed.

And you think that just because the sun generates heat, you conclude it should be extinguishable by water as though it's some charcoal? Don't you think you have to understand how the sun generates the heat before pouring your bucket of water on it, knowing that different fires are fought differently? Ask the firefighters for a coaching course on it, my friend.

It's possible, a massive astroiod or comets with substantial amount of ice on them can get pulled into the sun.

Though the water can evaporate before reaching the sun
