Ohanaeze, PANDEF, Obiano, Others Fault FG On Threat Of Emergency Rule In Anambra by Traplord09: 7:21am On Oct 08, 2021

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an elder statesman, Chekwas Okorie and former President General of Aka Ikenga, Goddy Uwazuruike, yesterday faulted the Federal Government over threat to invoke a state of emergency in Anambra State over rising insecurity in the state.

National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chiedozie Ogbonnia said Ndigbo would resist such a move, stressing that it was being suggested in bad fate.

He said that Igbo leaders were proactive and had already met and taken decisions on how to end the killings in Anambra and other parts of the Southeast.

He noted that the deaths recorded in Anambra were comparable to those in Borno, Yobe, Niger, Plateau and Benue states and wondered why the Federal Government was contemplating emergency rule in Igboland.

the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has faulted the Federal Government over threats to declare a state of emergency in Anambra State as it will cause voter apathy and create free room for rigging the November 6, 2021 governorship elections.

It said the government should rather reinforce the security architecture in Anambra rather than suggest a state of emergency.

PANDEF wondered why a state of emergency was not declared in the Northeast ahead of the 2019 elections and the subsequent by-elections and council polls in the region.

National Chairman of PANDEF, Emmanuel Ibok Essien, who made the assertion in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, yesterday, urged the Federal Government to stop excessive borrowing and focus on the resources in the country through economic and fiscal restructuring.

Reacting to the threat, Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano decried Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, over his comments in which he suggested the declaration of emergency rule in his state.

Obiano, who expressed anger at the remarks, accused Malami of acting outside his brief, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari was not in support of the action.

“As a government, we have a responsibility to ensure the sustenance of our democratic order and to provide security of life and property,” he said.

On his part, the traditional ruler of Umuanyi Autonomous Community in Uturu, Abia State, Uwadiegwu Ogbonnaya also faulted the Federal Government over the threat to declare a state of emergency in Anambra State.

Ogbonnaya, the Ojim I of Umuanyi, who spoke at the 7th triennial national conference of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Umuahia, Abia State, insisted that if a state of emergency had not been declared in Borno and Yobe states, it should not be applicable in the Southeast.

the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday said that Federal Government was not serious about its threat to declare a state of emergency in Anambra if the security situation in the state failed to improve.

Caretaker Chairman of the party, Adegboyega Famodun, stated this while speaking on Feedback, a radio programme in Osogbo, noting that the threat was issued to instil some fear in troublemakers in Anambra and give peace a chance.

The government is trying to save this people and instead of them thanking Buhari for coming to their aid, they are blabbing. If they give IPOB one month, everyone of them will flee to Lagos and Abuja. Even as they talk, majority of them talking are staying in Abuja, Lagos, Benue and Overseas.

All IPOB knows is to kill Innocent people.

* There has been serial attack on southern Kaduna dominated by Christians on daily basis but because the government is involved, the state won't be declared state of emergency

* Bandits and insurgents has killed mire people in Katsina than in the whole south combined but katsina state won't be declared state of emergency

* A helicopter that belongs to a former military president was seen delivering arms to bandits in Zamfara state which is a haven for bandits, terrorists and insurgents, but FG won't declare state of emergency there

* Benue state has been turned to burial ground by Fulanis who massage the locals on daily basis and even made an attempt on the governor's life. Although no arrest was made, yet the state won't be declared state of emergency because they are state sponsored crises

* Plateau state has witnessed series of massacre by activities of Fulanis who wants to rid the indigenes if there land for the past two decades at least but FG won't declare state of emergency there

* Borno State is the headquarters of ISIS West Africa, Boko Haram and banditry but the FG won't declare state of emergency there l

* The governor of Yobe state because of insecurity ran away from his state to Abuja and when asked about the rumour making round that he abandoned his state, he said that he visits the state 3 or 4 times in a month yet he dines with the FG and they go to the same mosque together so FG won't declare state of emergency there

But they want to declare state of emergency on Anambra state

Why is the FG not interested in saving the people of the North ravaged by insecurity and terrorism. Let the government declare a state of emergency in Katsina, Zamfara and Co. Or are those being killed there worth less than goats?

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was in power for 8 years. During that period, MASSOB led by Chief Raph Uwazurike was agitating for Biafra. There were series of peaceful solidarity rallies, Millions of men marches, and gatherings. Biafran flags were hoisted in every nook and cranny of the Southeast region. Chief Uwazurike was arrested and released severally. Series of dialogue was initiated. Regardless of all these, the Southeast remained a peaceful haven.

President Muhammadu Buhari came to power; IPOB started the same agitation for Biafra. They use a radio station to air their voice. Their leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu came down from London and was arrested by the government, just like Uwazurike. Peaceful solidarity rallies and marches were held and Biafran flags hoisted in Southeast regions as well.

Unlike Obasanjo's approach, a military onslaught was unleashed on the Southeast region in the name of 'Operation Python Dance. It is on record and there are lots of video clip evidence that Nigerian soldiers and police often shoot, kill, wound, and brutalized none violent and unarmed IPOB agitators. Lives were lost. Young men were killed. Breadwinners were killed. Loved ones were killed. Children, women, and old ones were not spared by stray bullets. The relative peace in the Southeast was gradually eroding.

After the release of Nnamdi Kanu from prison, series of intensified but peaceful solidarity rallies returned in the Southeast. Millions of sympathizers gather together to welcome Nnamdi Kanu as a hero in his many visits to different towns in the Southeast. This new and growing popularity accorded to Nnamdi Kanu in the region prompted another military action (Operation Python Dance) in the region. As expected, lives were lost. Nnamdi Kanu's home was invaded by the military and he escaped the country.

Lots of bereaved and broken families are out for vengeance against security agents. But we shouldn't allow such to happen. Otherwise, we end up having a failed state. Two wrongs can't make right.

Argument on Nnamdi Kanu flaunting his bail conditions is baseless in the sense that the court has not said so, reprimanded him, or issue a warrant for his arrest.

Many factors are responsible for the current state of the Southeast region.

Immediately after inauguration, President Buhari made it obvious that he will not render the same treatment to the region that gave him 5℅ votes with those that gave him 97℅. Of course, the Southeast region is the 5℅. Mr. President openly declared war of deprivation to the Southeast. And Southeast embarked on self-defense - 'Battle for Survival'. Buhari's statement and actions so far portray obvious hatred or disaffection to the region. His recent remark of 'A Dot in the Circle' justified that he knew exactly what he is doing.

With all these narratives and obvious facts, the seed of crisis in the Southeast was planted by this present administration. It is a well-hatched job.

Aside Northeastern states and North-central states, Mr President's state Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kaduna state are not left out. Charity begins at home. Katsina state should have been the first in pronunciation of 'State of Emergency' before others.

Dialogue is a bane of true Democracy, unity, and co-existence. As a leader, you are leading the whole nation. Do not expect every section to like you. After all, there was a contest before your emergence. But it is expected of you to ensure fair treatment. Don't allow ego or bitterness to override your true sense of reasoning. Leave a good legacy carved in stone.

My own view of this bad insecurities every where
I think we are the cause of our problem.and we can help the government to solve it, government can't be everywhere.take for instance.we are more than 200million in dis country, and all the security apparatus in dis country if combined together am sure ain't upto 20million.so there can't be here and there.why will we fold our hands looking at selected few killing and disturbing us?why will we fold our hands looking at five people just arrived at a venue and start killing and after killing will just go Scott free.why can't the people rise and attack dem?must we always wait for the security forces to come to our rescue.if at any scheme we fight back bandits caught and deal with them others will be scared to attack again.there are with gun and we are not with right.but if u don't attack dem there will still kill u.so it's better we attack dem n we both go together.thats my own view

Usless government. Even with the rate of terrorism in the North for years, no state of emergency was declared. Then they sent Fulani militants and DSS to cause unrest in the east and within weeks they want to declare state of emergency.

Those people who thought IPOB where responsible for the attacks are the real fools! What is IPOB doing with ATM machine? Una no get sense? Now you see who the real terrorists are!

The governor cannot be blamed for insecurity since he doesn't control any security apparatus in the state.

Hold Buhari responsible.

When I used to hear Buhari is a fool I thought it was a joke.

Amb beginning to hate him, with no apologies.

NDA was attacked in kaduna with a general kidnapped, kaduna, Niger, Katsina, Zamfara, Bornu, Sokoto has even taken over by bandits but the Ediot has never threatened state of emergency but the moment it reaches anything east, his stark foolishness would be tweeting to talk rubbish
