Real Estate Marketing: What Is Real Estate Marketing Then And Now by ExxOnes: 1:24pm On Oct 13, 2021
Real estate marketing changed and evolved with technological advancement. As new technologies arose, it became increasingly difficult to promote in a localized and relatively straightforward manner. What exactly was changed in Real Estate Marketing?

Real Estate Marketing - Then
Since the dawn of civilization, the wealthy and powerful have invested in real estate. They possessed several properties that they never used and subsequently rented or sold. How did they accomplish this feat? How did they advertise themselves?
In contrast to now homeowners were primarily merchants. Their Business's success was contingent on their reputation. They'd use words to reach their intended audience and then haggling to persuade them.

#1. The Town Criers
Indeed, the primary mode of commercial communication was through "town criers." That is, homeowners would employ somebody to talk to the public about available homes in certain regions. It was a simple procedure that relied heavily on word of mouth, and the property's profitability was entirely dependent on the owner's reputation. It was a more innocent era.

#2. Printing Press
Gutenberg developed the printing press in 1450. Without a doubt, it had a significant influence on the market due to its widespread adoption. As broad literacy expanded in cities, printed advertisements began to grow in popularity. Real estate experts created tiny advertisements to distribute on the street or to post on public notice boards. Today, posters and billboards are still visible, but town criers have vanished entirely.
Real estate brokers were created in the late 1800s to link sellers and buyers. Large corporations were formed from them. D3.developers found that working with agencies was more efficient and cost-effective. Also, they published the first real estate listing newspapers, which benefited developers in their marketing efforts.

#3. Phone Calls or Cold Calling
Medieval agents were assigned to markets they knew well. How did they get leads? These newcomers used the same strategies as their predecessors: direct mail and newspaper ads. When phones became widespread, they could reach their goal with frequent phone calls. Some agents would spend their days taking calls.
Projects of significance required them to cover a larger area, advertise in more widely distributed magazines, and make more phone calls. But this method was not scalable.

#4. Radio and Television related Advertisements
With the advent of radio and television, marketing efforts may take on a new dimension. The first real estate radio ad was broadcast in 1922.. More significant initiatives would leverage these contemporary communication methods to increase lead generation.
However, because the technology was new and the channels were being saturated, it was prohibitively expensive to create enormous yet unsuccessful efforts of this nature, and the larger the campaign, the lower the conversion rate. That is why it was critical to improve the targeting.

Real Estate Marketing Now: Marketing in Digital Age
Real Estate marketing now is all about Digital Marketing. In this Digital Era, you need to evolve yourself and adopt the new marketing strategies to grow your Real Estate Marketing Business.

#1. Websites and Property Listings
In the early 2000s, realtors began to use the internet to reach a new audience and differentiate themselves in an oversaturated business. They began building websites and blogs to market their companies and properties in order to differentiate themselves from the competition. During this period, internet listings became popular. In 2006, 80% of home buyers did their research online, and that figure has risen.
The modern client has begun to utilize Google as a property research tool. Again, the industry got crowded, making it harder for realtors to get organic ranking for their websites. However, the one and only - social media - arrived.

#2. Social media
Digital technology has advanced tremendously in such a short period. A high-quality website is now required. Websites used to be straightforward with uncomplicated designs, but they are becoming increasingly beautiful and comprehensive, with the ability to combine high-quality images and shareable videos. The quality of a website has become so critical that clients will not take a business seriously if it does not have a regularly updated website and an active social media presence.

#3. Customer Relationship Management
A good CRM system will send targeted and automated emails and communications to leads depending on their activity, resulting in improved customer service and increased conversion rates. Instead of sending out individualized emails, the system will perform the job for your real estate agents, allowing them to spend more time closing transactions and less time on time-consuming duties.
