Can Gear Box Of Toyota Corolla Car Be Worked? by Mybrotheralso: 12:13pm On Oct 18, 2021
I'm able reverse , but I'm not able to drive without first firing and this has been there for almost 3 weeks now.So I now ask, can the gear box of Toyota corolla sport be worked ? Or is it outrightly to buy a new one?

Lolz. Bro, it can be worked but you will go back to the mechanic after few days/weeks. In and out of mechanic will finally damage the gear box. So better go get a tokunbo replacement than wasting money for repairs and finally replacement

Please, what happened to the gear before it developed this fault? Don't know if I framed my question correctly.

The gear oil leaked out, and something and it refused to move, then something like smoke was seen in the gauge of the gear oil,.so it was sealed and new oil added, from that moment it stopped selecting drive unless it was fired.

Eya. Sorry. It was the leaked oil that caused it.

Wanted to know because I drive a corolla so I would prevent something similar happening to mine.

A good gear technician can change the fibers, service or change the body valve and other components and it will last long.. I worked mine last year August and it's still working perfectly. I drive an Avalon 2002 car

What really happened 4 weeks ago that caused the oil to leak out, how long did you drive without oil and what type was used to replace it

Firstly, check fluid level then go ahead with other diagnosis.

Your technician obviously poured too much transmission fluid into your gear box. There is nothing wrong with your gear box. Tell him to drain AT LEAST half a litter and your car will move smoothly.

I live in Aba, Abia state.. As of last year, everything including gear oil was up to 40k
