A developmental economist, Taibat Hussain has been nominated into the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Youth Sounding Board as a member from Nigeria.

She was nominated among hundreds of applicants to join the Generation Unlimited Young People Action Team. Generation Unlimited (GenU) is the world’s leading Public-Private-Youth Partnership transforming crisis into opportunities for young people.

Currently, young people represent 1.8 billion of the world’s population – the largest in the history of humankind. GenU is leveraging this demographic boom around the globe to expand education, training and employment opportunities for young people.

Taibat is a Masters graduate in Development Economics from SOAS University of London. She has over four years of progressive, transnational experience working in the not-for-profit and development sectors. She will be joining the GenU team to actualize some of these goals globally.

Expressing her delight at the nomination, Taibat said she is looking forward to forging innovative collaborations with young people and advancing GenU’s impact areas, including learning and skilling, entrepreneurship and employment, and youth as changemakers.

“Young people are facing unique challenges worldwide. It has become imperative for us to be directly involved in providing relevant solutions to these challenges. We must develop our innovative solutions and anchor conversations around pertinent issues to our growth”.

“I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to play a vital role in shaping the future of young people by equipping them with the right skills and resources to transform their lives”.

Taibat is an energetic and goal-driven young leader who has championed causes in women’s advancement, education, youth employment, and grassroots development. Recently, she worked as a Gender and Economic Development consultant on the ‘Partnership for Advancing Women in Economic Development’ project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

She is a vibrant volunteer and researcher who has written extensively on issues affecting young people. She is a fellow of Emerging International Leaders, UK, a recipient of Talents of the Future Award 2018, and a 2019 Commonwealth Shared Scholar.

“There is no better time for young people to take charge of our affairs. It is our time; it is our turn, it is our future”.

This life no balance at all, some will be celebrating while some will be struggling with problems here and there..I pray I over come my accomodation issue because I can't imagine myself living on the street without a roof over my head..ha!!...life can be so painful at times and it takes only the grace of God to get the inner strength to hold on.

Not that you are not trying but the result sometimes does not commiserate your efforts one bit.

Sometimes I ask myself, will it ever get better!!?
I seriously envy those who have gone past such stage in life where they are no longer afraid of financial insecurity.

How do they do it?
How did they manage to go past such difficult hurdle in life?
Yeah, I understand that some had an already layed down foundation that made it easy for them, this one's are out of my questions but those who started from the scratch by themselves and did overcome I mean those who achieved such success in a honest way, how did you guys did it?....!!

I can't even sleep, I woke up in the middle of the night, seat on my bed and think all night, woke up in the morning, look into the sky and ask if HE is there watching me, yes!..I know he is and o believe he will see me trough in his usual style that's is always beyond my imagination....

I don't bring this here for self pity but needed to talk to someone but no one to talk to as friends are no longer there, sometimes strangers listens in times like this more than friends....

myself and everyone in this situation or those in worst situations, we will overcome and smile again in Jesus name!..

You have posted this matter since morning but no one seems to have replied you...it is because almost everyone relates with your situation as we all also have one/two issues we're rolling with.....just don't let this current economic situation overwhelm you...hang in there..... the darkest hour of the day is just before dawn......be assured that it'll get better.... and work with that mind... explain to your landlord/caretaker.... and if it's to move to a smaller space... maybe you shd do so... just don't give up
