GLOBAL ASSOCIATION OF CONCERNED IMO YOUTHS (GACIY)

PRESS RELEASE

UNCOVERED: IHEDIOHA BORROWED N3.5BN, SEPTEMBER 2019 AND DID NOT ACCOUNT FOR IT

GACIY has uncovered loan facility of N3.5bn obtained by the deposed Emeka Ihedioha administration of the People's Democratic Party in September 2019. The N3.5bn loan remains unaccounted for.

According to a memo dated Friday, 17th September 2019 which conveyed Exco approval of the loan, the document which was tagged TOP SECRET by the administration shows that the loans were obtained in two segments: (1) N1.5bn loan from Fidelity Bank for Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS); and (2) N2bn Commercial Agricultural Credit Facility from Fidelity Bank.

The memo further shows that an emergency exco meeting was held on Friday, September 17, 2019, starting from 11:05 and Opening Prayer said by Hon. Jones Onyereri, the SA Political, to endorse Ihedioha's instructions concerning the loan facilities.

The documents further show that the former Deputy Governor, His Excellency Engr. Gerald Irona, presided over the meeting because Ihedioha travelled outside the State.

"His Excellency, the Deputy Governor presided over the meeting in the absence of His Excellency, the Governor who was on official trip outside the State. The deputy governor welcomed members present. He stated that the day's emergency meeting became necessary in order to deliberate and consider 4no memos amongst them were 2no urgent memos sent in by the honourable commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources on the offer of N1.5billion Term Loan under central bank of Nigeria (CBN) Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS) from Fidelity Bank PLC and the proposed N2.0billion Commercial Agricultural Credit Facility Summary of Indicative Terms and Conditions from Fidelity Bank PLC.

"The Commissioner for Agriculture disclosed that His Excellency, the Governor had granted permission [before the meeting] to the Agricultural Team to visit the CBN concerning the Agricultural Loans.

"Council approved that the loans should be accessed by State Government."

On the strength of this startling revelation any decent shrink would diagnose that the PDP's chronic emaciation is not ordinary, but the product of trembling, of drifting, of running from the ghost of its haunting past.

If the party wasn't so high on hypocrisy it would have noticed the log in its eyes before pointing its leprous fingers at the 3R administration for sourcing finance to meet critical state needs.

We are scandalised that after having seized inumerable hectares of land from vulnerable communities in the pretext of a farming project, Ihedioha had the temerity to convene a sham exco meeting with only a handful of lackeys to rubber stamp loans for his escapades while remote controlling proceedings from the comfort of his love nest.

We will never forget the indignities that profligate regime inflicted upon Imo people. We will not forget the disguises Ihedioha embraced just to plunder our treasury; the strange, senseless, impulsive projects he undertook all with the intent to steal.

As a matter of urgency, GACIY demands that the government and people of Imo ably led by Sen. Hope Uzodimma

1) tear from Emeka every asset of Imo to which he helped himself during his illegal stay in office.

2) enlist the help of every audit firm, every antigraft agency, every judicial panel of enquiry until Emeka is shaken free of every kobo belonging to the government and people of Imo.

3) pursue the 3R agenda of rehabilitation, reconstruction, and recovery until Imo prospers again.

Signed:

Collins Ughalaa KSC
(Convener).
