The Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode has said that part of the Police mandate is to collaborate with and support the NYSC Scheme in the achievement of her objectives of integrating the nation and training the graduate youths toward nation building and development.

CP Olokode made this known when the NYSC Osun State Coordinator Mrs Winifred Shokpeka paid a courtesy visit to his office in Osogbo on Monday.

Olokode lauded the efforts of the Scheme in imbibing in the Nigerian Youths the spirit of selfless service to the nation, and emphasizing the spirit of unity. He further lauded her for living above board in spite of the several challenges bedeviling her. He described the Scheme as a focused one which has not lost sight of her vision and mission.

The CP continued by stating that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow and as such, they must exhibit leadership characteristics that will earn them such confidence by the older generation.

He further assured of his sincere support to the scheme adding that he can be reached anytime the assistance of the Force is needed. He expressed his immense gratitude to Mrs Shokpeka for the visit which he said shows that the Scheme reckons with and appreciate what the Force is doing.

"We will continue to synergies with you so you can succeed in the State. You have been doing well in taking care of the productive force of this nation, which are the youths. I assure you that we will continue to support you so you success story can be intact.

"it is our duty to safeguard lives and properties and that includes the corps members serving in the State. We will therefore, continue to protect the members of the Scheme and ensure they are secured", he said.

Meanwhile, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka expressed gratitude for the immense support of the Police towards the success of NYSC activities in the State especially the Orientation Course and ensuring the safety of the Corps in the State. She appreciated the CP for the regular release of seasoned Officers during Orientation programmes in the State.

She further appealed to the CP Olokode to extend a hand of fellowship to her administration as she is newly appointed to serve in the State. She assured the Commissioner that she is set to carry out all the duties and responsibilities the Director General has conferred on her, " but to do this effectively, we will need all the possible support you can give", she added.


The meeting ended with the State Coordinator presenting to him various publications and compendium of the NYSC.
