Igbos pride themselves as the most educated, enlightened and exposed ethnic nationality in Nigeria. They do not hide their notion that other regions especially the Hausa/fulanis are backward in terms of their thinking and their socio political engagement.

The last weekend gubanatorial election in Anambra State has, as in the past, exposed the Igbos as rather direct opposite of the qualities they attribute to themselves, especially judging by their political maturity.

The Fulanis have on the other hand, shown that when looking for a leader of their choice, political party platform is immaterial when compared with the quality they are looking for. This they have exhibited on several occasions. The case of president buhari is still fresh how the Fulanis have on several occasions voted him in their millions irrespective of the political platform. The height of the point is when buhari formed CPC within 7 months to a general election, and still went ahead to ganner above 12 million votes in a general election. This proves that they vote individuals and not a political party.

The above scenario cannot be said about the Igbos because, on several occasions, they have chosen to prefer and voted for political party rather than the quality of the individual. It is still fresh in the memories how on two occasions, the Igbos ignored and abandoned the almighty Ojukwu to his fate on the two different occasions he contested for the presidency of Nigeria. It was so bad that he came a distant second in his state of Anambra. The same measure he was given in the entire Igbo states, because they choose PDP as a party not the quality of the party flag bearer.

Other few examples include when buhari ran on joint tickets with two different prominent Igbos in the persons of the late Dr Chuba Okadigbo and Edwin Umezuoke in 2003 and 2007 respectively. On those two occasions, the Igbos also chose PDP and abandoned these their brothers to their fates. Of recent, Kingsley Muoghalu and Obi Ezekwesili, contested, none was able to win a single political ward not even their own.

Coming to the just concluded Anambra State, the fact that Dr Maduka got a mere 1,793 votes, highlights, the point this article is talking about. What it means is that, even Dr Maduka's kinsmen chose to vote APGA and not the man who has single handedly, transformed their community. A man who has given numerous scholarships and empowerment to numerous households in his community and beyond. I stand to be corrected, the candidate of APGA Soludo has no record of reaching out to the needs of others, not even when he was the governor of Centeral bank. That shows that the choice of Dr Maduka's kinsmen was primarily for a political party and not the individual who has been their benefactor on several measures.

No doubt Soludo is a good candidate, but I am sure that Dr Maduka's kinsmen would have preferred to vote for him in preference to their own son should both of them swap political party platform in the election.

If Maduka only scored less than 2000 votes it could be an indication that the election was rigged.

Unless you're a closet APC member, what you're saying makes no sense. Can any rational human being even begin to compare Soludo's resume, CV, achievements and political profile with that of Maduka?

So Maduka was not acting out of the goodness of his heart when he was giving scholarships, he was actually campaigning abi? So why should he be upset that someone else (Soludo) adopted a more intelligent campaign strategy which gave him the edge and upper hand?

And to add insult to injury, you are comparing Igbos to Fulanis of all people? This is unwarranted and unfair of you.

Hide your head in shame.

Your reference of Buhari spoiled the whole thing. Yes he tried thrice and succeeded during the fourth attempt. The question to ask is has he delivered? You obviously know the answer.

I admit Maduka is right but you can't downplay Soludo so the people made the right choice.

You just have to live with your pains which is severely. The Buhari you talked about got it after his CPC seen as a regional party couldn't.

He tried and succeeded because his APC now has a national appeal unlike APGA that's measured as the defunct CPC.

So your useless argument portraying Ndigbo dropping Ojukwu's party for PDP shows you're politically unwise. If so the votes of PMB should have made him president without APC platform na.

The wider coverage of political parties is what Ndigbo considers Secondary after primarily accessing the candidate.

The best companies in the world still maintain good Marketing departments. The candidate you prefer had all the opportunities to market himself and he performed abysmally. Instead of assembling a top-notch campaign team, he chose a beauty pageant hustler to manage his campaign to the point that they turned the campaign to empty awards bazaar. If he could be so easily hustled, how sure are we that Anambra state funds under him will be safe?

Every Anambra man cannot drive down to his community to witness what he did. The fact that what he did in his village is the central point of his campaign is a proof that he has little or no grasp of what Public Administration means. State government is not a private enterprise. If philanthropy is the perfect measure of quality leadership, Rochas Okorocha would have been an icon.

It is difficult to make rational decision bordering on politics when you keep viewing the exercise through the prism of poverty.

But fulani, your using as example to igboes, voted buhari even though he never established anything for anybody, at least soludo is miles ahead of buhari, in terms of human development, and also they voted, against atiku who established a lot industries, schoosl, scholarships, he also built many mosque, sponsored many of them abroad, built roads for them, created a lot of employment for them, and lifted many of them out of poverty, infact, it's only dangote that can Trump him in number of people employed, yet they paid him back by voting against him, so what exactly do you have against igboes.

Maduka, Soludo are all bright choices

Then you consider Soludo been in the party anambra trust

Then you consider that the current times need economist to navigate as some governors now borrow

So Soludo fits the bill over maduka,

Not so true about the ibos especially Anambra pple

I have noticed this set of ibos called Anambra to be highly politically sophisticated and that’s why most of us from other regions are really interested in the outcome of the election.
This pple vote individual and not party. The grassroot structure of the Anambra politics is quite strong and well informed. In fact the three major political parties really did a grassroot awareness for their pple. And on the other hand the pple already know what they want no matter how u sugarcoat your prospects for the state.

Left for APGA, Anambra pple would have dumped them because they really took d state four years backward with the drunkard of a governor called Willie. But APGAs saving grace and only smart thing they did was fielding Soludo knowing that they as a party really fuccked up.

When Soludo contested against Obiano, did Obiano have a better resume?

@the bolded, Soludo isn't winning because he had a better campaign strategy. If he and Maduka had swapped parties before the election, we both know who would be winning today
